About the Role
We are seeking experienced college admissions or advising professionals to support students in grades 10 through college with the college readiness and application process. Our programs provide early, mindful planning which balances academic advising with college planning for optimal results. We support each student’s individual needs on the road to discovering, attending, and achieving at the best-fitting college. This role will serve in the capacity of advisor with a potential leadership opportunity within the organization.
Responsibilities include:
- Meets one-on-one with students virtually as a guide students to: cultivate their college portfolio, select appropriate courses, plan visits, develop test-taking strategies and plans, complete essays and applications, prepare for interviews, develop resumes, manage waitlists and decisions, negotiate financial aid where appropriate, support transition and college success, and provide career path advisement
- Continue support, development, and maintenance of foundational study skills already established or taught concurrently by a Novella teacher
- Manages and is responsive to student deadlines and reviews of application materials
- Meets with Novella staff regularly to discuss student progress, issues, and areas for improvement
- Additional responsibilities, as needed
- Minimum 10 years experience in college admissions, higher education, or related area (preferred)
- Knowledge of admissions criteria, selection processes, and key strategies to navigate the application and advisement process
- Ability to meaningfully engage with students virtually
- Strong time management, communication, and organization skills
