Schedule: Monday - Friday, 6am - 2pm
JOB OVERVIEW:
The Cold Heading Machine Operator is responsible for operating Cold Heading Machines to ensure quality product is produced. Should a Machine Operator prove to be effective in their operator duties, they will have the opportunity to advance into the Setup Tech training program, gaining a unique and valuable skill set with compensation increases up to $32/hr.
Machine Operator Essential Function:
- Perform quality inspections using required measurement equipment per job specifications, often rotating between multiple machines at a time.
- Make accurate and complete data entries into the ERP system PLEX.
- Perform pan dumps when product is free from error.
- Follow the reaction plan for non-conforming or suspect product.
- Startup and shutdown machines.
- Weld and string wire.
- Change out hoppers and coils.
- Operate Hilo to move product to required machines/areas as needed.
Machine Operator Required Education/Experience/Skills:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Basic data entry skills.
- Basic math skills.
- Demonstrates mechanical aptitude.
- Able to efficiently multi-task and keep pace with the manufacturing floor.
- Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. and occasionally lift and/or move 75 lbs. – 100 lbs. (typically with another team member’s assistance).
- Must be able to work on feet for prolonged periods of time while using tools and perform repetitive actions that entail frequent bending and stooping.
Machine Operator Preferred Experience/Skills:
- Prior experience in a manufacturing position.
- Experience with measurement equipment such as micrometers and calipers.
Setup Tech Essential Functions:
- Setup Cold Heading Machines by changing out tooling and making adjustments to machine.
- Troubleshoot for job development.
- Assist other departments with problem solving and prevention for corrective actions.
- Alert proper personnel for tooling repairs and machine repairs.
Requirements to advance from Machine Operator to Setup Tech training:
- Completion of one year as an Operator (minimum) in which the team member demonstrates he/she can effectively and consistently perform the essential functions of an operator.
- Must have acceptable attendance record.
- Must demonstrate a positive attitude and maintain good relations with coworkers.
Work Environment: This position operates in a manufacturing work environment.
