Management and coordination of coding for UFHP and clinics, along with reimbursement and compliance functions. The manager is responsible for overseeing CPT-4 and ICD-10 coding from appropriate source documents, as well as Charge Entry, in accordance with all UFHP, B/AR and department standards related to billing protocols and compliance. Manages workflow processes and personnel to accomplish the timely and compliant coding of physician medical records and Charge Entry. Coding manager will develop strong partnerships and interface with executive management, clinicians and revenue cycle to fulfill the mission and vison of UFHP coding while ensuring quality and regulatory compliance. Ensures all current insurance guidelines are utilized to generate clean claims by utilizing knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding and medical terminology.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
- CCS or CPC certification is required.
- High school graduate.
- Five years of medical billing experience.
- Four-year degree may substitute for four years of medical billing experience.
- Two-year degree may substitute for two years of medical billing experience.
- Minimum of 12 months of previous physician coding and abstracting experience required.
- Epic PB Billing system and supervisory experience strongly preferred.
- Excel and Word skills required.
- Working knowledge of claims processing required.
- Excellent communication skills required, including staff interaction, patient relations, conflict resolution, dissemination of information and the ability to interact with physicians and in management forums.
- Strong knowledge of coding and billing procedures.
- Should be able to deal effectively with coding issues and represent the interests of the UFHP in a professional and positive manner.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills required.
- The ability to multitask, prioritize, problem solve and achieve successful outcomes and function effectively in a team environment are necessary attributes of the successful incumbent.
Motor Vehicle Operator Designation:
- Will operate vehicles for an assigned business purpose as a "non-frequent driver."
NOTE: A frequent driver is defined as one who uses his/her personal or Shands automobile a) at least once daily, b) at least five individual trips per week or c) drives, on average, over 150 miles per week in the performance of his/her job.
