APTIM, a leading engineering firm with a global presence and a thriving Coastal Engineering practice, is pleased to announce an immediate opening for a Coastal Engineering Intern for government clients in our Boca Raton, FL office. The APTIM team is multidisciplinary with Coastal Engineering, restoration, and coastal and marine science services specializing in all aspects of beach nourishment, shoreline protection projects, coastal and marine mapping, and coastal resiliency and sea-level rise work. APTIM's engineers, biologists, geologists, surveyors, Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) specialists work with both government and private clients on a wide range of environmental and coastal issues. Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
- Strong quantitative skillsets to support coastal/waterfront projects, including coastal structures and beach nourishment
- Conduct engineering analyses and apply Coastal Engineering tools for the design and formulation of resilient coastal protection projects
- Assist project teams in conducting the design process for engineering projects from conceptual design to detailed designs
- Prepare standard contract documents, such as technical specifications, engineering reports, regulatory applications and other technical documents
- Coordinate work with other coastal engineers and professionals within and outside own discipline and with support services staff
- Conduct field work including site inspections, surveys, and construction observations
- Manage individual tasks and small projects while also working collaboratively as part of a team for larger or multi-disciplinary projects
Basic Qualifications:
- Attending an accredited educational institution pursuing a degree in Coastal Engineering
- Minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA with at least 60 hours of coursework complete
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must have experience with MS Office software, including but not limited to MS Excel, MS Word, and MS PowerPoint
- Demonstrated technical and analytical skills
- Experience with coastal modeling, environmental data analysis, GIS, or AutoCAD is an asset
- Demonstrated strength in written and verbal communication skills suitable to a consulting environment
- Demonstrated ability to fluently communicate in spoken and written English
