Job description

CNC Makino Operator
Position Objective
The role of the machinist is to set up and operate computer numerical control (CNC) to machine parts with no assistance. Machining of tooling, production parts, and fixtures within the confines of scheduled delivery dates and customer satisfactions. The machinist must be able to communicate with co-workers regarding production runs, and maintains a safe, organized and clean work environment.
The machinist position will be Full time from Friday - Sunday, 5am-5:30pm. Work 36 hours and get paid for 40 hours.
Position Accountabilities
  • Works independently to operate MAS system controlling 4 Makinos on rail system.
  • Handles changeovers without assistance
  • Performs offsets without assistance
  • Accomplish basic setups without supervision
  • Deburr machined parts accurately while maintaining processing and production goals
  • Read and write basic code at the machines without assistance
  • Start and observe machine to detect any malfunctions or out of tolerance machining
  • Perform basic quality inspections using appropriate measuring instruments to ensure that part is in conformance to print specifications
  • Fill out daily production and conformance paperwork
  • Ensure that all responsibilities and functions performed are in accordance with company procedures and meet the quality standards in place
  • Adhere to safety manual and work instructions related to safety
  • Willingness to communicate with other team members, share knowledge, and train fellow teammates when needed
  • Organize, maintain and clean work area per housekeeping expectations
  • Model behaviors of reliability as outlined in Company Attendance Policy.
Skills and Attributes
  • Ability to read and comprehend a variety of instruction, including blueprints, diagrams and work instructions
  • Knowledge and understanding of machining concepts but not limited to G/M codes, setups, speeds and feeds, tooling, etc.
  • Knowledge operating and comprehending inspection tools to ensure quality and conformance
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated and ability to work well with others
Qualifications and Experience
  • Minimum high school education
  • Some technical school education
  • Two or more years related experience

Preferred Qualifications and Experience
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Some technical school education
  • Two or more years related experience
Physical Demands and Work Environment
The typical work environment is an office setting; occasionally the employee may be required to visit the manufacturing areas and/or customer sites where they could be exposed to loud noises, fumes/odors and hazards associated with moving equipment.
  • The use of PPE, including hearing protection, eye and hand protection, and use of safety footwear may be required
  • Travel up to approximately twenty-five (25) is required; domestic air travel and overnight stays will be required, occasional international travel may be required so a valid passport and the ability to obtain/maintain appropriate business traveler visas is required
  • Some travel will be by ground transportation so a valid US Driver's License and acceptable driving record to meet insurance standards is required
