Position Information:
Location: Pontiac, IL
2nd shift: Monday-Friday 3:00 PM-11:00 PM
3rd shift: Sunday- Thursday 11:00 PM-7:00 AM
Starting pay is $26.31 an hour ($25.56 base + $0.75 night shift premium)

Job Summary:
As a CNC Lathe Operator at Caterpillar Pontiac, you will operate, set up and adjust automatic lathes to perform various combinations of machining operations on miscellaneous parts. Execute machining operations on CNC lathes to perform complex combinations of machine of machining operations or limited combination of machining operations close to tolerance.
What you will do (including but not limited to):
Set up, operate, and adjust automatic lathes to perform complex combinations of operations to tight tolerances on a variety of parts.
Set up, operate, and adjust one or more numerically controlled drilling and boring machines where the feeds, speeds and cycle are fully controlled by encoded instructions. Machining programs, tool layouts and encoded instructions are usually provided.
Blueprint reading.
Applying safe working methods.
Operates control station to monitor and control melting station.
Analyzes control signals.
Controls melting operations.
Detects deviations and initiates corrective action.
May be required to operate machine manually, override encoded instructions, or adjusts offsets as necessary.
What you must have:
Previous machine shop/ production experience
Good communication skills and strong commitment to safety and teamwork
Top candidates will also have:
Previous CNC experience
Previous machine shop, foundry, or manufacturing experience
Math skills
Awareness of Sort, Set, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain (5S) and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM)
Physical Requirements (with or without reasonable accommodations):
Ability to frequently lift and carry boxes weighing up to 35 pounds
Ability to stand throughout an 8 to 12-hour shift
Ability to operate heavy machinery and manufacturing equipment
