WHAT YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR:
The CNC Machinist 2 plays an important role in setting up and operating CNC mills/lathes to produce a variety of products. This position is also responsible for maintaining machines to stay in peak operating efficiencies. As a member of the Wheels Mfg production team, you will also be required to work with colleagues to maintain a safe, clean and operationally efficient shop.
- Operate CNC lathes and mills with minimal assistance.* [50%]
- Set-up CNC lathes and mills with minimal assistance. * [30%]
- Perform quality checks to ensure parts are within tolerance.* [10%]
- Properly and safely load raw materials.* [5%]
- Perform regular cleaning and light maintenance on CNC machinery and assist in organization and maintenance of the machine shop work environment. [5%]
- Other tasks and responsibilities as assigned.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:
- REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or GED
- 2-5 years of related machining experience
- Accurately use gauges and measuring instruments to meet tolerance requirements
- Properly identify use of inserts, grades, chip formers, fixtures, and tooling
- Ability to effectively operate multiple machines simultaneously
- Understand and have the ability to perform geometry and tool wear offsets
- Proficient at reading and interpreting blueprints/drawings
- Basic math and computer skills
- Perform basic maintenance on the machine when it is not working at peak efficiency
- PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge of set up techniques and various types of tooling
- Ability to read basic G & M code

- Physical Requirements
- Ability to perform work on a computer extensively.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 40lbs frequently
- Ability to lift 20lbs. overhead frequently
- Ability to team-lift 75lbs frequently
- Ability to stand and walk up to 8 hours per shift constantly
- Seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or otherwise working with the hand(s). It is often present when lifting involves the hands. Note: Fingers are involved only to the extent that they are an extension of the hand to hold or operate a tool such as tin snips or scissors.
- Touching, picking, pinching, or otherwise working primarily with fingers rather than the whole hand or arm as in gross manipulation.
