About IPSD
Caterpillar’s Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) designs, tests and manufactures 0.5 to 18L engines that not only power Caterpillar machines, but also power over 5000 other applications including Marine, Petroleum, Industrial Applications, Electric Generators, and Locomotives. Job Summary:
IPSD has a great opportunity for an experienced CNC Machinist II in our Machining facility in Schertz, TX. As a CNC Machinist II, you will support various engine block machining lines and will focus on rework operations. This role will float to areas where support is needed within the facility, assist in meeting customer and company demands, and report to section managers.
What you will do:
Setup, operate, and troubleshoot the CNC and NC controlled machines by maintaining production, quality, and housekeeping as required
Ability to operate and perform quality checks on all CNC machines
Use CNC Machine and other tools to rework engine blocks, heads, and other parts
Detect and report defective materials or questionable conditions
Assist in training and upskilling machine operators as needed
Follow standard operating procedures and area specific work instructions
Interpret CNC programs to include JIS, JMI, CMM data, Gagelt
Monitor processes by using Infinity
Perform milling, turning, drilling, tapping, deburring, sawing, and sanding tasks
Perform inspection of machined products, maintain quality and document results
Complete and maintain paperwork for all parts and work orders
Perform any other duties as assigned
What you will have:
At least 1 year of CNC Machinist experience
Mechanical inclination
Proficient at reading technical documents and blueprints
Self-sufficient and proactive approach to work
Ability to assess a situation and identify the best solution
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Ability to work well with others
Effective communication skills
What would make you a top candidate:
At least one 1 year of CNC Machinist experience working with metals and/or alloys
An Industry Certification and/or relevant two-year technical degree (i.e. Computer Numeric Control Certifications, Machining Certifications, and/or AAS in Precision Machining Technology)
Experience training others within a machining environment
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time
Ability to perform repetitive operations
Ability to lift at least 35lbs.

$25.50 hourly starting payrate, plus a 7% Shift Premium
Monday - Friday, 2:00PM - 10:30PM
Overtime as required
