CNC Machining Operator 1st shift 6am - 2:30pm

Purpose

The purpose of the Machining Operator is to operate and control machines and processes in the Machining department.

Principal Accountabilities

• Controlling machines and processes.
• Interpreting instructions and procedures to assemble equipment and products accurately.
• Getting information from all relevant sources.
• Performing inspections of equipment, materials and products.
• Analyzing information and finding the best solutions to problems.
• Maintain clear and honest communication at all times.
• Keeping the work environment safe.
• Learning and applying the latest relevant knowledge to the work.
• Fabricates and assembles various types and sizes of product parts, tooling, and assemblies; works with, modifies and creates jigs and fixtures.
• Provides knowledge transfer where inquiry requires higher level of expertise.
• Assist with development of new processes
• Maintain item and job traveler information
• Continually look for opportunities to improve the manufacturing process and department.
• Work with the Modus QC Inspection team to ensure parts are within allowable tolerances and finished parts do not have any flaws.
• Adhere to all company Safety policies and procedures.
• Adhere to all company Quality Management System policies and procedures
• Other responsibilities assigned, as required.

Quantitative Data

• The Machining Operator is a key input to customer satisfaction and on-time delivery
• Performance is measured by On-Time Delivery and Customer Complaints metrics

Organizational Structure

The Machining Operator reports directly to the Machining Manager.

Knowledge & Skill Requirements

It is expected that the Machining Operator possess these critical skills through prior knowledge and/or Modus training:

• Must be a US Citizen
• Certificate in Machine Shop Technology or Machine Tool Technology/Machinist or equivalent experience.
• 1-2 years of experience in mechanical assembly is preferred.
• Recognized apprenticeship may be required.
• Strong analytical, communication, and computer skills.
• Ethical behavior.
• Attention to details and self-motivation.
• Performs the day-to-day responsibilities of assigned position.
• Performs, or assists in, the orientation and training of employees.
• Maintains and promotes excellent client relations by identifying and promptly responding to all questions relating to the business.
• Knowledge of proper use of measuring tools/gauges and cutting tools.
• Understanding of drawings, models and routers.
• Excellent communication and basic math skills.
• Commitment to excellence and high standards.
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
• Ability to manage priorities and workflow.
• Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
• Acute attention to detail.
• Ability to work on complex projects with general direction and minimal guidance.
• Achieves required safety, quality, delivery and performance levels.
• Understanding of basic manufacturing principles, decision making, deductive reasoning, and troubleshooting.
• Strong ability to read, write, comprehend, and communicate in English, bi-lingual in Spanish preferred.
• Experience with MS Office 365.
• Must be able to stand for extended hours
• Must have excellent eyesight (correction allowable)
• Performs miscellaneous assignments as required and/or requested.
• Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

Job Environment

The Machining department is located in the warehouse. The warehouse area may be dusty, odorous, noisy, and subject to changing temperatures with outdoor weather.

The employee will adhere to all Quality Management System policies, procedures as well as 5S processes, and plant safety.
