Position Summary:
SIG SAUER, Inc. is seeking a CNC Machine Operator to perform daily activities associated with the manufacturing of finished and semi-finished machined goods using automated and manual equipment and processes to meet end-customer needs. This role will report to the Machining Supervisor. Swiss Machining preferred.
- Regular on-site attendance/punctuality is a necessary function of this position.
- May be required to work in other functional areas and/or facilities depending on business needs.
- Make mechanical and/or program adjustments to ensure parts are meeting quality requirements.
- Communicate recommendations to modify processes to improve productivity and quality.
- Able to demonstrate good manufacturing practices.
- Machine parts by utilizing CNC machines to perform various machine functions, such as cutting, drilling, milling, reaming, boring, and broaching of metallic and nonmetallic workpieces.
- Maintain a safe, healthy work environment by complying with organization standards and legal regulations.
- Must be able to respond professionally to process improvements.
- Starts and observes machine operations to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.
- Working knowledge of blueprints, sketches, drawings, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of the finished workpiece.
- Grind, file, or sand surfaces of metal items, utilizing a variety of hand/power tools, and machines.
- Move materials and maintain work area.
- Responsible for visual and physical quality of the parts being loaded and unloaded.
- Have the ability to identify and replace any broken or worn tools and make tool offsets.
- Examination of surfaces in order to find defects.
- Removal of defects and smoothing of uneven surfaces.
- Ensures 100% on-time delivery by meeting established process, quality, and production standards.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Experience and ability with measuring tools, calipers, and micrometers.
- Basic computer and math skills required.
- Some experience in reading drawings is helpful.
- Knowledge of machine shop equipment and practice, specifically those involving metal cutting.
- Ability to work in a team environment, share information, respect and assist other team members.
- Regularly perform repetitive tasks.
- Shifts are 8 hours, 10 hours, and 12 hours.
- The duties of this job normally require exposure to a typical manufacturing area where frequent standing, sitting, stooping/squatting, walking, and stair climbing can be expected along with frequent lifting and/or moving of tooling, parts, containers, and materials up to 40 pounds.
- Work is primarily standing (90 + % of the shift) with the exception of breaks, lunch periods.
- Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) which is required in designated areas.
- Must comply with all work exposure EH&S training requirements and adhere to SIG SAUER Inc. Security Mandates.
