Job Title:CNC Lathe Set-up Operator
Reports To: Machining Manager
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
Summary: The CNC Lathe Machinist is responsible for producing machined parts by setting up and operating a Computer Numerical Controlled (CNC) machine.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Reads and interprets blueprints and/or drawings.
- Operates forklifts and overhead cranes to handle and move materials
- Performs program edits and/or changes as required.
- Accurately measure parts per blueprint.
- Maintains quality inspection of parts, equipment and supplies.
- Performs CNC Lathe setup independently and makes quality parts.
- Performs self- inspection of parts using precision measuring instruments and gages.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.

Experience and Requirements:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED), preferred.
- Three (3) to five (5) years of experience with set-up and operation of CNC Lathes; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to use precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, dial bores).
- Must understand G&M codes and be able to edit programs to make adjustments as required.
- Personal tools a plus.
Physical Demands:
Employees must regularly lift, push, pull and/or move 50 pounds. Anything over 50 pounds will be moved with a forklift or overhead crane. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, power tools, fumes and airborne particles. The employee will be in a well-lit, heated indoor shop environment with adequate ventilation.
