Storm Search is conducting a direct hire search for a Lathe Machinist in the Vandalia area!
This position offers:
- 2 shifts available with night shift as a priority
- Hours are 6 am-4:30 pm or 7:30 pm-6 am

Duties:
-Loads material into the machine.
-Initiates the machine and observes cutting operations.
-Performs setup, with assistance on offsets if needed.
-Independently makes offsets to ensure continuous machine operation.
-Sets up and replaces tools without supervision.
-Recognizes tool wear proactively to prevent dimensional deviations.
-Compares numerical data display with specifications on operations sheet.
-Adjusts tool lengths and fixture offsets as required.
-Monitors tooling usage for maximum cost-effectiveness.
-Ensures the accuracy and quality of machined parts.
-Authorized to stop processes to maintain quality standards.
-Responsible for machine turnovers to adjacent shift operators.
-Operates manual milling machines or lathes to machine surfaces.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or three months to six months related experience and/or training.
