- Provides personal hygiene care to patients, which includes bathing, skin, mouth, facial and hair care. Looks for skin breakdown when caring for patient’s personal hygiene and reports to RN.
- Follows instructions on turning and repositioning patients. Uses proper body mechanics when moving and lifting patients with use of gait belt.
- Takes and records patient’s vital signs and other documentation needed for patient chart and inputs in EMR upon completion of task.
- Assists patients with all activities of daily living (ADL) which the patient is unable to perform on their own.
- Offers nutritional assistance. Feeds patient and encourages food and fluids as tolerated and ordered.
- Communicates condition of patient/family to RN.
- Assist with patient/family teaching concerning patient care and care for the caregiver.
- Attend and participate in staff and patient review meetings.
- Perform specific duties as assigned.
- Sweeps, scrubs, and mops floors. Vacuums and spot clean rugs.
- Cleans and disinfects patient rooms, restroom, beds and other patient room furnishings per infection control manual policy.
- Keeps utility storage area and custodial equipment clean and in good order; makes reports on areas in need of repair and of safety hazards.
- Keeps restrooms in clean, orderly, and sanitary condition. Cleans, disinfects, and deodorizes patient restrooms and toilet bowls daily and PRN.
- Maintains patient records such as time of rounds and/or a description of incidents.
- Cleans and disinfects Durable Medical Equipment, as directed.
- Cleans and disinfects games and toys in family room, as directed.
- Surveys and maintains grounds outside of inPatient Unit, as directed.

Certified Nurse’s Aide license within state of practice.
Prefer a minimum two years of CNA experience, one year in either a Home Health and/or Hospice setting recommended.
Two years environmental experience, preferred.
Knowledge of methods, supplies and equipment used in sanitizing, cleaning, and maintaining healthcare facilities, preferred.
Knowledge of healthcare protocols and priorities regarding the clean up of spills and blood, preferred.
Interpersonal skills to interact with patients, their families and staff.
Ability to operate standard office machines such as fax, telephone, etc.
Strong keyboarding and computer skills, preferred.
Ability to communicate clearly in English verbally and in writing.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment:
- Must be able to lift, move, push, and/or pull objects, including the human body.
- Must be able to walk and sit for long periods of time.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, stand, push and pull.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
- Must be able to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word, must be able to convey to others, by spoken word, accurately and clearly.
- Must be able to hear at normal speaking levels with or without correction.
- Required to have visual acuity to operate a vehicle during day and night hours, to view, read and work with computer laptop and tablets.
- Subject to occasional exposure to hazards associated with blood and infectious materials.
