Cloud Systems Engineer/Database Administrator (Remote Opportunity)

VetsEZ is seeking a Cloud Systems Engineer/Database Administrator to join our remote DevSecOps team and support our customer, the Department of Veterans Affairs. An ideal candidate will have experience with cloud service provider (CSP) portals, tools, and scripting languages to build and run software in the cloud. The candidate must reside within the continental US.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with Solutions Architects to implement cloud-based solutions based on provided architectural diagrams.
• Apply DevOps principles, including Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, containerization, and DevSecOps practices aligned with the chosen cloud provider.
• Utilize cloud-specific tools and features such as AWS Docker, Azure GitHub Actions, or Google Cloud Build, demonstrating proficiency in relevant scripting languages.
• Administer Postgres and/or SQL databases, adapting to the nuances of the chosen cloud platform.
• Utilize cloud-specific management tools provided by AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Excel in API and web services management, incorporating cloud-native services.
• Manage infrastructure, platform, application, and database services, leveraging unique offerings of the chosen cloud platform.
• Implement disaster recovery (DR), High Availability (HA), failover, and redundancy strategies within the context of the chosen cloud provider.
• Contribute to migration, scaling systems & data, and implementing systems for large-scale projects on AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Communicate technical issues effectively and maintain comprehensive documentation.
• Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of the selected cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP).

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or a relevant discipline.
• Minimum of 5+ years of experience in cloud engineering on AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Cloud certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect or equivalent.
• Demonstrate proficiency in Kubernetes/EKS (AWS), AKS (Azure), or GKE (Google), along with knowledge of relevant cloud orchestration tools.
• Experience with cloud services specific to VA systems.
• Experience with RHEL and upgrading from older versions to the latest VA TRM approved versions.
• Experience with EC2, RDS, S3, CloudFormation, Lambda, Cloudwatch, EKS.

Additional Qualifications:

• Ability to obtain a government clearance.
• VA experience is preferred.
• SAFe, Jira, or ServiceNow is preferred.
• Familiarization with ePASS and NMEA.
