Job description

The Cloud Administrator is responsible for managing, monitoring, and maintaining cloud-based infrastructure. They will work closely with the AVAC Cloud Cyber Team and IaaS host teams to ensure that cloud resources are implemented, administered, provisioned, managed, and maintained in an efficient and secure manner.
Responsibilities will include:

  • Perform cloud virtual management, and maintenance, configuring and optimizing software, diagnosing connectivity problems troubleshooting failed system components (i.e., servers).
  • Identifying and anticipating system/server performance, availability, capacity, or configuration problems.
  • Installing operating system and software, upgrades, maintaining directory services configuration and management of virtual machines.
  • Design, document and implement group policies and access control lists to ensure compatibility with organizational standards, business rules, and operational needs.
  • Configuring and utilizing software-based computer protection tools (e.g., software firewalls, anti-virus software, anti-spyware).
  • Document and maintain STIG, network and overall system configuration implementations.
  • Application of security patches for commercial products integrated into system design meet the timelines dictated by security and configuration management authority for the intended operational environment.
  • Provide ongoing optimization and problem-solving support, interfacing with customers.
  • Management of AVAC User portal for tracking and responded requested changes, new users and issues on AVAC Cloud environment.
  • Conduct periodic system maintenance including cleaning (both physically and electronically), disk checks, routine reboots, data dumps, and testing.
  • Tracking and management of all AVAC virtual machines, software, topologies, vulnerabilities, mitigation/remediations and other required artifacts for maintain configuration, operations, and security compliance.
  • Develop and document systems administration standard operating procedures such as baseline, procedures, and processes to achieve system administration functions.
  • Maintain configuration management, vulnerability management, patch releases, and security configuration of Cloud AVAC network.
  • Installation and networking of all hardware and software. Testing and verification of configurations and overall implementation.
  • Support of security compliance through design control, configuration/change control documentation, patch testing, verification and remediation releases and decisions.
  • Assist in the develop and implementation of cloud strategies.
  • Convert the technical requirements of a project into the architecture and design that will guide the final product.
  • Implement cloud computing solutions, including designing the cloud infrastructure, the cloud application architecture, and the cloud security architecture.

Required Skills and Experience:
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related fields. Equivalent years of experience considered.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Information Security or related fields.
  • Must be proficient in various cloud technologies, including virtualization, containerization, and orchestration technologies.
  • Required certifications:
    • CompTIA Security+ (Required)
    • Professional Oracle Linux System Administrator (preferred)
    • Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) (preferred)
    • CompTIA Linux+ (preferred)
    • CompTIA Cloud+ (preferred)
    • Others (e.g. Azure, AWS, etc.)
  • Have strong analytical skills to identify patterns and insights from cloud-based infrastructure and system performance data.
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python is preferred
  • US citizen, born in the USA, with an active TS/SCI security clearance

Compensation: The salary for this position ranges from approximately $95,000 to $115,000 depending on relevant experience and qualifications.
