We are seeking a mission-focused Cloud Data Engineerto support and contribute to our government customer’s success in Denver, Colorado!

 

***ACTIVE SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIRED***

 

This position is on a program that develops and operates Geospatial Intelligence analysis software. The team builds and maintains a robust platform enabling users to address challenging problems by converting disparate data into actionable information. They work directly with operational users to design, develop, and maintain capabilities that empower analysts to create actionable intelligence from the massive volumes of Geospatial Intelligence data to give our intel and combat organizations the decision advantage over our near-peer opponents.

 

As a Cloud Data Engineer, you will be working closely with developers and data scientists to establish a consolidated data analytics environment utilizing COTS and FOSS software. You will design and implement data ingestion strategies, data warehouses, data visualizations, API integrations, and automation solutions for end-to-end large scale data analytics solutions. 

 

Duties, Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable data platforms for large-scale data processing and storage in AWS
  • Develop complex data flows and design/build data pipelines for collecting, transforming, and loading data into data storage solutions
  • Optimize data platforms for performance, scalability, and cost efficiency, monitoring and troubleshooting any issues that may arise
  • Ensure data quality, accuracy, and consistency through effective data validation, cleaning, testing, and monitoring

Required Experience, Education, Skills & Technologies

  • An active TS/SCI security clearance, preferably with CI polygraph
  • Seven (7) years of related experience
  • Experience with AWS Infrastructure
  • Experience with Elastic Stack infrastructure, including Elasticsearch and Kibana, and visualization platforms, including Tableau
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting/problem solving skills
  • Experience with Python and SQL programming 
  • Strong understanding of databases and database structures
  • Experience building highly available, distributed systems of data extraction, ingestion, and processing of large data sets
  • Effective communication skills

Preferred Experience, Education, Skills & Technologies

  • AWS Certification – SysOps, DevOps, or Solutions Architect
  • Experience with CloudFormation, Terraform, or similar IaC technology
  • Information Assurance/DoD 8570 certification (like Security+)
  • Knowledge of and experience with Geospatial data and technologies
  • Experience with data visualization tools like Kibana, Tableau, and PowerBI
  • Experience with big data processing and technologies: ETL, Hadoop, Elasticsearch for Hadoop, structured data, SQL schemas and queries, Apache Spark, Databricks, etc

Security Clearance Level

  • TS/SCI with an adjudicated CI polygraph or ability to obtain a CI polygraph

  • None

Work Schedule

  • Full-time on-site at a designated facility.

Pay Rate

  • The projected compensation range for this position is $125,000 - $175,000. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Criterion Systems considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
