Cloud System Engineer III - Remote - ($100,000 to $130,000)

The Cloud Engineer III role at Michael Baker International is responsible for the effective and efficient setup and architecture of the cloud infrastructure and supporting platforms. The Cloud System Engineer III will be responsible for the design, integration, implementation and Tier 3 troubleshooting of the cloud infrastructure across several business segments of Michael Baker International. This role needs to work collaboratively with developers and business stakeholders on the cloud capabilities required to support Michael Baker Internationals infrastructure environment and provides resilient design that is repeatable for application modernization and cloud deployments.

The Cloud System Engineer III must be able to work effectively as a subject matter expert in Michael Baker International platforms to provide technical expertise for a cross-functional team, including:

Requirements:

• Five or more years of experience working in the cloud computing industry
• Experience must include one of the public clouds: AWS, Azure, or GCP
• Certifications in Azure, AWS, or GCP are preferred
• Experience building and deploying VDI solutions including AVD, VMware Horizon
• Analytical and troubleshooting abilities

Responsibilities:

• Partnering with development leaders, this role will design and implement cloud environments, aligning with business needs
• Author troubleshooting guides for lower tier support teams
• Automating cloud-based services and platforms
• Migrating workstreams from on-premises systems to cloud-based solutions
• Keeping abreast with market trends, emerging technologies, and cloud-based initiatives
• Collaborating with key stakeholders to ascertain the evolving business needs and adjust our infrastructure designs accordingly
• Evaluating existing systems to identify any vulnerabilities that could jeopardize cloud security
• Maintaining current knowledge of cloud computing technology to provide best practices to their employer or client
• Manage cloud storage strategies to maximize the retention of files and other critical enterprise data
• Collaborating with cybersecurity and information technology staff to ensure the protection of firm data stored on computer systems
• Creating and implementing cloud computing systems that meet the needs of MBI or client
• Collaborating with engineering and development teams to assess and select the most appropriate cloud solutions.
• Educating teams on new cloud technologies and initiatives
• Creating and maintaining cloud-based systems following industry standards
• Assuring that data storage and compute processes operate efficiently in compliance with enterprise security policies and cloud security best practices
• Detecting, assessing, and addressing infrastructure and application deployment vulnerabilities
• Reviewing existing systems regularly and offering recommendations for enhancements
• Assessing cloud strategy and program architecture
• Collecting system requirements in collaboration with application architects and owners
• Developing scripts and templates necessary for resource provisioning to occur automatically
• Collaborating and identifying cloud solutions with technical teams
