SalaryThe Project – Altech Solutions LLC is working on a very interesting global social initiative, an effort to build systems and tools that will facilitate the Observation, Collection, and Understanding of Social Media data. We are building tools (web apps) which will be an international resource to study the information ecosystems that can spur evidence-based policy solutions.

Summary - This role is ideal for someone who has a deep understanding of deploying and managing cloud infrastructure, with a particular emphasis on leveraging Azure services. The successful candidate will possess a strong background in Terraform/Bicep, experience with data systems design, and a proven track record of deploying machine learning workloads, specifically PyTorch/TensorFlow, on various computing targets including CPUs and GPUs. Our Cloud Engineer certainly needs to have a good handle on like cloud deployment strategy, certainly needs to know there way around cloud automation. AND data and process security is also key because data storage and is key aspect of our project. Being able to handle PII will be crucial a there might be PII processed by our internal stakeholders (national and international researchers).
Job Title: Cloud Engineer - Azure Specialization
Requirements: US Citizenship and Ability to Clear a Drug and Background Check
Location: Remote
Contract: 10 Months (multi-year project but with an initial funding for a period of performance of 10 months)
Hourly Rate: $60-65/hour + Full Benefits
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and manage cloud infrastructure using Azure cloud services, ensuring optimized performance and cost efficiency.
- Deploy and manage machine learning workloads using PyTorch/TensorFlow on Azure, focusing on both CPU and GPU targets.
- Develop and implement data systems design and optimization strategies within allocated budgets, maximizing efficiency and scalability.
- Ensure robust application monitoring and alerting through the implementation of advanced observability solutions.
- Maintain the highest levels of data security, adhering to best practices and compliance standards across various regulatory frameworks including PCI, SOC 2, HIPAA, and ISO27000.
- Work collaboratively within the team and across departments, demonstrating excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Independently solve complex problems, employing strong analytical abilities and a solution-oriented approach.
Qualifications:
- Proficient in Terraform/Bicep for infrastructure as code deployments.
- Extensive experience with Azure cloud services and ecosystem.
- Demonstrated expertise in data systems design and optimization, with the ability to work effectively within budget constraints.
- Previous experience deploying PyTorch/TensorFlow workloads on CPU and GPU targets.
- Competent in implementing observability solutions for comprehensive application monitoring and alerting.
- A well-developed understanding of data security best practices and compliance with standards like PCI, SOC 2, HIPAA, and ISO27000.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Azure certifications, TensorFlow Developer Certificate) will be considered an advantage.
