Job description

Position Summary:

The role of Clinical Support Specialist will work collaboratively and under the direction of a licensed behavioral health clinician, along with person supported teams to support the data collection, development and implementation of behavioral support plans. The Clinical Support Specialist will focus on providing training on behavioral supports which is conducted in person with person supported and staff.

Position Responsibilities:

In a manner consistent with supporting The Arc NCR Mission Statement the Clinical Support Specialist shall do the following:

Quality Support

  • Provides clinical/behavioral consultation, guidance and support for staff and people supported within area of competence and under the supervision of Clinical Supports Manager.
  • Assists in the development, training and implementation of behavioral support plans and data collection for functional assessments.
  • Participates in data collection, review and interpretation of behavioral data and presents Behavior Support Plans to relevant committees.
  • Provides direct assistance and modeling to families, staff and caregivers to ensure implementation of the behavior support plan as outlined in the written plan, programs, schedules and other documentation.
  • Develops and maintains appropriate and effective relationships with physicians, psychologists and nurses in the community.
  • Thorough, timely and accurate documentation of services provided which meets DDA, state and federal requirements.
  • Consistently develops, fosters and models positive relationships throughout the agency.
  • Trains staff, family members and caregivers and models behavior support plans interventions.
  • Assesses and provides suggestions for staff training in the areas of psychological and behavioral supports.
  • Participates in orientation of new team members.
  • Undertake other duties as assigned, including special projects and cross-program development.

Financial Excellence

· Provides and bills for services in accordance with DDA waiver, state and federal regulations.

· Provides feedback to agency leaders, case managers and service coordinators around changes in service funding levels.

Education, Training and Experience:

· Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Applied Behavioral Analysis or other relevant field required.

· Must be one of the following or willing to obtain in first 90 days of employment:

o Certified Crisis Intervention Specialist

o Certified Behavioral Intervention Technician

o Registered Behavioral Technician

· 2-3 years of experience in a human services field; DDA experience preferred.

· Experience in working within a multidisciplinary approach.

· Experience with electronic health record and quality documentation.

· Fluent in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, etc.)

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this position, the employee will be expected to successfully operate certain office equipment but not limited to: desktop PC, laptop computer, printers, scanners, and copiers. An employee in this position must be able to lift and transport recruitment materials up to 20 pounds.

An employee in this position will be required to maintain records related to the position. They will be required to have sufficient mobility to attend meetings inside and outside the office; they will be required to have sufficient fine motor skills to use a keyboard and telephone, handle, manipulate and retrieve documents pertinent to the position. This employee is required to hear (with or without hearing devices), speak (with or without associated devices), and see (with or without corrective lenses).

· Access to reliable transportation.

· Active valid driver’s license and driving record that has no more than two (2) points.

· Maintenance of all required trainings under DDA guidelines and The Arc Northern Chesapeake Region policies and procedures.

· Flexibility of scheduling to meet agency and program needs.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $22.37 per hour
