Summary:
The Emergency Department Clinical Secretary is responsible for providing clerical support to the physicians and nursing staff in the Emergency Department. Upon request provide assistance to patients under the direction of the Charge Nurse, Physician, or Nurse Manager.
Responsibilities:
Patients and families are served in assisting the nursing staff to provide patient care services. Performs duties and conducts interpersonal relationships in a manner to project a positive image of the department and hospital. Insures that contacts with other health care members are friendly, helpful, and courteous.
Qualifications
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- High school graduate or equivalent.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT
- Experience with Medical Terminology

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS
- Good interpersonal, communication, and observation skills are essential. Training in various computer software programs (ex. Word, Word Perfect, Excel, Windows, etc.) typing, mathematical calculations, telephone technique and etiquette.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Possible exposure to chemical hazard through use of photocopier and printer.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT
- Standing, walking, and sitting majority of the shift. Some reaching, carrying, and pushing wheelchairs maybe involved in daily tasks.
