Butler Hospital and the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at the Alpert Medical School of Brown University are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Research Psychiatrist(s) with clinical interest in Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) & Interventional Psychiatry or Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) & Anxiety Disorders.  These positions will be located in the internationally recognized Butler Hospital Center for Biomedical Research Excellence. Butler is the main psychiatric academic affiliate of the Alpert Medical School of Brown University.   • Leading salary, comprehensive benefits and academic faculty appointment commensurate with experience
  • Develop and participate in research studies focused on clinically relevant neuromodulation
  • Conduct clinical evaluations and provide interventional psychiatry (TMS and other) or OCD services for patients at Butler Hospital
  • Serve as a key member of the NIGMS-funded COBRE Center for Neuromodulation and the Butler Neuromodulation Research Facility team, including attending weekly team meetings, supervising research neuromodulation procedures and trainees as needed
  • Assist with grant applications and fundraising efforts to support the program's research initiatives
  • Collaborate with other researchers both within Butler Hospital and at external institutions

Founded in 1844, Butler Hospital is the state's only non-profit, free-standing psychiatric hospital providing adults, seniors and adolescents specialized assessment and treatment for all major psychiatric illnesses and substance abuse.

Butler is the major affiliated teaching hospital for psychiatry and behavioral health of The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. It is the flagship hospital for its Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior, which has been recognized by its peers as one of the top ten in the US. Butler is the major training site and the base hospital for the Brown University General Residency in Psychiatry. Many physicians and psychologists at Butler are also part of the Brown Institute for Brain Science and participate in exciting Clinical Research initiatives with this world-renowned center for neuroscience.

Butler Hospital is a part of Care New England Health System that employs approximately 900 full-time and part-time clinical and non-clinical staff. Comprehensive Services

  • Inpatient programs
  • Partial hospital programs

Intensive Outpatient Programs:

  • Alcohol & drug treatment services (ADTS)
  • Senior treatment program
  • Cultural psychiatry program (Hispanic and Portuguese)

Care New England

Care New England is a four hospital system affiliated with Brown University.  We provide the full range of wellness, primary care, medical and surgical services and home care – including specialty hospitals in psychiatry as well as women and newborn care. Teaching programs include family medicine, internal medicine, emergency medicine, gastroenterology, podiatric medicine and surgery as well as general and subspecialty obstetrics and gynecology.
