Job Description
- Have demonstrated leadership skills to manage and develop a clinical staff
- Establish and maintain policies, standards, and programs for the provision of optimal, cost-effective nutrition care to residents. This includes coordination and directing all clinical activities.
- Develops goals and objectives for Clinical Nutrition to maintain high quality care.
- Utilize equipment, resources and programs to provide efficient and high quality care.
- Assist in the performance planning process for dietitians and train employees within the food and Nutrition Services Department as needed.
- Recognize and adopt activities appropriate to the specific needs of the resident population and demonstrates knowledge of specific issues directly related to age of resident population.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other facility departments to provide a unified approach to resident care.
- Be the primary liaison with medical team and nursing staff
- Establish education programs for facility’s professional staff (nursing, pharmacy, etc)
- Develop, implement and document in service education programs for registered dietitians and other nutrition personnel to provide continuing education and training
- Responsible for performance improvement/quality management activities at the institution
- May engage in and encourage staff to participate in research, submits to professional publications and professional and community lectures
- Maintain and establish systems and training programs to provide a safe working environment. Complies with all OSHA regulations and other local, state and federal government regulations
- Maintain all records and reports necessary to comply with Insight Hospital, government and accrediting agency standards, regulations and codes
- Maintain registration and licensure status
- Maintain compliance with all requirements of federal, state and local regulations and guidelines
- Provide nutrition services to in patient/outpatient clients as needed
- Participate in patient satisfaction and supports menu development
- Ensure nutrient requirements are provided
Qualifications
- At least 2 years of Clinical Nutrition management experience
- Experience includes data collection, scheduling performance monitoring, and collaboration/education of food service employees to support patient satisfaction initiatives
- Current food safety certification preferred
- Minimum bachelor’s degree and course work accredited or approved by ACEND
- Be familiar with the Nutrition Care Process and the ADIME model
- Experience with electronic medical records
- Pass a national examination administered by the CDR
- Obtain/maintain required state licensure to practice dietetics as RD/LDN
