Clinical Exercise Physiologist

1. Competent in interpreting a 12 lead EKG, using the Mortara Stress test machine, taking manual blood pressure, complete a patient assessment and evaluation during patient intakes. Keeps medical staff informed of any unusual changes.
2. Competent in Pulmonary Function Testing including the delivery of methacholine, use of an inhaler with a spacer, and pulse oximetry.
3. Provide education in areas of expertise such as exercise, physiology, nutrition, and risk factor modification strategies to cardiopulmonary patients, hospital staff and community.
4. Schedule Pulmonary Function tests, Stress tests (regular and NM), Holter and Event monitor, and sleep studies.
5. Competent in programming and downloading home sleep studies.
6. Performs other duties as assigned.
7. Completes department-specific orientation and annual competencies for this position per hospital and AACVPR Certification requirements.
8. Assist in training any new staff and/or Student Intern in Cardiac Eval, Respiratory Therapy, and Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation
9. Perform 6 Minute Walk Tests for home oxygen assessment.
10. Modifies goals in exercise progression based on ongoing assessment of patient condition, history, physical signs and EKG information.

Education/Learning Experience

Required: in allied health field such as Exercise Physiology

Licenses/Certifications

Required: Certification in BLS required and ACLS within 90 days of employment. ACSM Clinical Exercise Physiology certification within two years of hire

Hours: M-F 7:30am-4:00pm
