Job Description
- Competent in interpreting a 12 lead EKG, using the Mortara Stress test machine, taking manual blood pressure, complete a patient assessment and evaluation during patient intakes. Keeps medical staff informed of any unusual changes.
- Competent in Pulmonary Function Testing including the delivery of methacholine, use of an inhaler with a spacer, and pulse oximetry.
- Provide education in areas of expertise such as exercise, physiology, nutrition, and risk factor modification strategies to cardiopulmonary patients, hospital staff and community.
- Schedule Pulmonary Function tests, Stress tests (regular and NM), Holter and Event monitor, and sleep studies.
- Competent in programming and downloading home sleep studies.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Completes department-specific orientation and annual competencies for this position per hospital and AACVPR Certification requirements.
- Assist in training any new staff and/or Student Intern in Cardiac Eval, Respiratory Therapy, and Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation
- Perform 6 Minute Walk Tests for home oxygen assessment.
- Modifies goals in exercise progression based on ongoing assessment of patient condition, history, physical signs and EKG information.
Education/Learning Experience
Required: in allied health field such as Exercise Physiology
Licenses/Certifications
Required: Certification in BLS required and ACLS within 90 days of employment. ACSM Clinical Exercise Physiology certification within two years of hire
Hours: M-F 7:30am-4:00pm
