UW MEDICAL CENTER - MONTLAKE has an outstanding opportunity for a Clinical Documentation Integrity Specialist (CDIS) Second Level Reviewer.
WORK SCHEDULE
Full-time day shift. The work is remote or hybrid of in office and remote.
POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
The Clinical Documentation Integrity Specialist (CDIS) Second Level Reviewer, reviews CLINICAL DOCUMENTATION, makes judgements regarding the completeness and quality of that documentation, and facilitates modifications to CLINICAL DOCUMENTATION through communication with physicians, practitioners, and medical records coding staff.
DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
The CDIS Second Level Reviewer completes target DRGs specified by management. This role supplements team record review coverage with a focus on CC/MCC capture rate. In addition, the Second Level Reviewer works on Clinical Validation Denial appeals in collaboration with medical records coding staff, patient financial services (PFS) and compliance.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ensures that pertinent patient conditions and treatments are documented such that appropriate reimbursement is received for the level of acuity and service rendered to all patients using a DRG based payer (Medicare) methodology.
  • Verifies the accuracy and completeness of clinical information used for measuring and reporting outcomes related to patient care, physician practice and the medical center performance.
  • Educates all members of the patient care team regarding these aspects of CLINICAL DOCUMENTATION on an ongoing basis.
    REQUIREMENTS

  • Current WA RN License
  • Minimum combined total of 8 years of nursing experience to include acute inpatient hospital/surgical experience and a minimum of 2 years of CDI experience.
  • Certification in CDI (CCDS, CDIP or CCS) and maintain CE’s.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Comfortable navigating new and existing software systems and electronic medical records.
