The Clinical Director of Reproductive Health, Swedish hospital, provides leadership of inpatient and outpatient clinical activities of a defined interdisciplinary Reproductive Health team. This clinical leader is responsible for oversight of clinical quality, patient satisfaction, professional development, and job performance of erie Reproductive Health providers who deliver at Swedish Hospital, Part of Endeavor Health. They support and collaborate with Clinical Directors of the Reproductive Health delivery teams and Maternal Child Health, the Clinical Director of Certified Nurse Midwifery, the Medical Director of Advanced Practice Nursing, the Medical Director of Adult and Family Medicine and the Medical Director of Reproductive Health in leading and directing the team within Erie and with partner hospital(s). They assume 24-hour accountability and responsibility for the Delivery Team at Swedish part of Northshore.
Responsibilities:
Provides comprehensive Reproductive Health care as outlined in the OB/GYN job description.
Delivery Team Management
Staffing:
- Supports and collaborates with Human Resources and the Medical Director of Reproductive Health to recruit, hire, and onboard sufficient OB/GYNs, APPs and midwives to safely support the delivery volume of the team, outpatient clinic demand, and inpatient hospital obligations.
- In partnership with the Medical Director of the Reproductive Health and Clinical Directors of Reproductive Health when shared providers, prepares, submits, and distributes monthly clinic and call schedules (after hours call and hospital) in accordance with established Erie scheduling guidelines and timelines. Arranges for coverage when schedule changes occur.
- Collaborates with Clinic Site Management and other Clinical Directors of the Reproductive Health delivery teams to assure adequate staffing of the delivery teams in the setting of shared providers.
Leadership:
- Represents Erie at all hospital-based meetings relevant to the Swedish delivery team. Responsible for establishing, promoting, and fostering a positive collaborative relationship between Erie and the hospital partner. Attend required Erie Meetings including Leadership Team Meetings, Site Meetings, and Bi-Annual Reproductive Health Meetings. Participate in Erie-wide initiatives as assigned including committees and working groups.
- Collaborates with the Medical Director of Reproductive Health and Clinical Directors of Reproductive Health to develop, implement, and maintain compliance with policies, procedures, and guidelines for the Reproductive Health Teams.
- Participates in the development of relevant budgets and monitors and encourages compliance. Participates in billing initiatives. Leads efforts to support team members to ensure accurate and complete inpatient and outpatient charge submission.
- Develops, implements, and maintains compliance with policies, procedures and guidelines for the Reproductive Health practice.
Quality
- Promotes, facilitates, and monitors quality of care, utilization of quality management principles, monitoring of OB/GYN, Family Medicine, midwife and APP provider activities and productivity, and all other activities. Performs, or assigns, ongoing chart review of inpatient and outpatient OB/GYN, Family Medicine, ARPN and CNM care and documentation to maintain compliance Joint Commission, HRSA, FTCA, Managed Care, PCMH, Meaningful Use, Family Planning Grants, and other assigned standards with in the Reproductive Health service line. Models professionalism and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Actively participates in or supports Reproductive Health Quality Improvement Committee and associated activities. Provides regular feedback to Swedish team members on clinical quality indicators, effective communication, and job performance. Creates and sustains a culture of safety within the Swedish Reproductive Health Team and associated clinical and support staff (MAs, RNs, PBAs, etc.).
- In collaboration with the Site Medical Directors and Health Center Operations Directors, conducts timely follow up to relevant patient complaints and incident reports. Understands and disseminates policies, procedures and guidelines for Reproductive Health care to the Swedish Reproductive Health Team to assure care of the highest quality and maintain compliance with Joint Commission, HRSA, FTCA, Managed Care, PCMH, Meaningful Use, Family Planning Grants, and other assigned standards.
Teaching and Mentorship
- Sets performance goals and objectives for Swedish Reproductive Health Team members.
- Provides feedback, evaluation, and, as needed, discipline of team members.
- Mentors members of the team to identify and participate in activities relevant to professional goals and interests.
- Facilitates coordination with other leaders in resident, APRN fellow and student assignments within the team and maintains congruence between learner objectives and service objectives.
Education:
- MD
- Completion of ACGME OB/GYN certified residency
- ABOG Board Certified
Experience:
- Two to four years clinical OB/GYN physician experience required
- Two years previous supervisory experience preferred.
- Basic rescuer CPR Certification or Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification.
