Department Description:
The IS Training Department is a part of the System Support Office, responsiblefor training and supporting all areas of the system. This includes acute carefacilities, behavioral health facilities, and outpatient sites – totaling over18,000 employees. The IS Training department trains over 400 new hires a monthon average in addition to our ongoing implementations. Additionally, theyprovide at the elbow support to various roles in the system, as well asdelivering both instructor led and online training. IS Training is crucial toend user acceptance of new systems as well as the success of each go live.
Position Summary:
The ClinicalCredentialed Trainer (CT) plays a key role in helping the CareConnect Programmeet the objectives for clinical end users during implementation of the Epicelectronic health record as well as with subsequent optimizations and upgrades.This person will focus on learning the EPIC software for their role as atrainer, leading the classroom education for their designated application(s), andprovide elbow to elbow support during Go Live events. The primary focus will beto drive faster adoption, greater ultimate utilization and higher proficiencyof the end users to minimize the impact on productivity.
The CT provides in the classroom and operationalsupport for the Epic implementation project and post go live trainingactivities. The CT answers end-user questions as part of the training team, andserves as a liaison between end users and project and department leaders.
This position requires successful completion ofthe Epic credentialing process which includes a 4-6 week training program onthe application(s), to include “teach back” methodology, successful completionof a teaching presentation before a panel, and successful completion of aCredentialing exam. In addition, the position requires comprehensive knowledgeof clinical practice models.
Position Responsibilities:
- The CT reports to Training Team Lead and takes direction from the assigned Instructional Designer.
- The CT is a liaison between his/her end user departments and the CareConnect team before, during and after GoLive.
- The CT attends assigned Epic application training in the application(s) to which s/he is assigned. The CT must go through the Credentialing process as designed by the Instructional Design team and pass with 85% competency before they are allowed to train end users, including the super users.
- The CT will conduct instruction and competency testing for the Super Users and End Users.
- The CT will train end users in the classroom as assigned, which may involve travel to various sites, and a varying schedule.
- The CT will provide tutorial or special audience training.
- The CT is accountable for maintaining the readiness of training rooms, assembling training materials and generating status reports on training sessions and participating in the quality improvement process.
- Go-live support. This is an important responsibility of CTs because they are the main source of support for Super Users and end users in their departments during go-live. CTs answer questions, help end users navigate through the system, and report issues to the project team to support prompt resolution.
Qualifications
The Clinical Credentialed Trainer meets the following Education/Work
Experience requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or healthcare related field plus three (3) years of related work experience, preferably including training program design and implementation.
- Preferred experience in a health-care related environment and providing training with an Electronic Health Record (EHR) preferred.
- Or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position.
Licensure/Certification:
- Current driver’s license valid in the state of Connecticut or other evidence of equivalent mobility.
- Must obtain Credentialed Trainer status with the Epic Training Leadership Team within 8 weeks of assignment.
