Job Description


Example of Typical Tasks:

  • Identifies patients to input into the trauma registry per trauma program inclusion/exclusion criteria.
  • Collects and analyzes data on trauma patients that is detailed, reliable, and readily accessible; concurrent collection through chart review and staff interview if preferred.
  • Performs basic data collection of demographics, and coding of clinical and follow-up data from all sources into trauma registry database. Interacts with physicians, nurses, and other members of the trauma team and trauma patients to perform trauma registry functions. Keep registry current within 60 days of patient discharge.
  • Enters data daily into the trauma registry, analyzing patient records for data entry points as well as looking for possible quality/safety issues
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and provide analysis and propose change and communicate strategies.
  • Provide supervision and guidance to junior Clinical Business Analysts, Clinical Business Analysts assigned at Level I, consultants, and/or other appropriate project team members.
  • Assists with other departmental functions as assigned including preparing for verification assessment by the ACS-COT every three years.
  • Lead the training, development, and implementation of process improvements for all projects and applications along with the TPM and Trauma PI Coordinator.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A Master’s degree or advanced clinical degree from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of experience serving as a lead in soliciting, defining, and managing requirements for internally and externally developed software in a clinical, allied health, non-allied health, behavioral health, information technology, information services, business, analytics or related
  • area; or, one (1) year of experience in a relevant clinical and/or healthcare administration role/function; or
  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and five (5) years of experience as described above; or
  • College graduate with preference for nursing, health care, computer science, or public health related degrees; or
  • A satisfactory combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Specialty certification(s) issued by a national commercially available program, state, professional society, academic or technical institution in an area(s) listed above, may be credited on a month-to-month basis toward the required work experience for a total of one (1) year.
  • Intermediate or advanced skills in typing, computer literacy, and experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Above average communication skills in all forms.
  • Ability to multitask with prioritizing and meeting deadlines.
  • Must successfully complete or have previously completed the following two (2) courses within Twelve (12) months of hire.
  • The American Trauma Society’s Trauma Registry Course or equivalent provided by a state trauma program.
  • The Association of the Advancement of Automotive Medicine’s Injury Scaling Course
