Responsibilities

The Barrow Neuroepidemiology Research Program is a multi-disciplinary research laboratory focusing on investigating neurodegenerative disease and other neurology disorders. The laboratory uses two primary research approaches, cohort and administrative data studies. For the cohorts, we take a deep phenotyping approach in populations highly exposed to environmental neurotoxicants, using detailed clinical assessments, molecular and structural imaging, and exposure quantification. Our administrative data studies primarily use Medicare data to understand risk factors for neurologic diseases, to develop predictive models to identify patients earlier in their disease course, and to identify potential disease-modifying therapies using pharmacoepidemiology. The team conducting these studies is highly multi-disciplinary and includes physicians, data analysts, computer scientists, epidemiologists, and a geographer.

The Research Biostatistician is responsible for applying the knowledge of statistics to assist with clinical study design, protocol development and statistical analysis of the clinical studies. The Biostatistician will also review project related documents, prepare Statistical Analysis Plans and statistical reports.

As part of the Research Team, the Biostatistician will play a key role with the Research Team and interface with external vendors to fulfill the responsibilities of biostatistics.
