Looking for someone who is involved in EHR and has done policy update procedures, understands the process of designing in EHR and Persisted with updating policies in EHR.**
Job Description:
- This position participates and collaborates in a workgroup with other Clinical Specialists and Information Technology staff to complete project implementation of the EHR.
- This position is a subject matter expert on medical record keeping.
- This position provides the business perspective of the day-to-day processes of medical record keeping to the information technology staff.
- The information provided by this position will help build the structure of an Electronic Health Record (EHR) system for the Virginia Department of Corrections.
- This position actively supports and promotes systems standardization and best practices.
**Role & Responsibilities: **
Performance Management
- Responds to instructions and feedback from supervisors constructively to improve personal performance.
- Engages in constructive dialogue with supervisors.
- Relates instructions and feedback of supervisors to personal knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Acknowledges and follows through on coaching and/or instruction related to performance correction, enhancement, and/or development.
- Completes additional assignments and duties as assigned to ensure smooth operation of the work unit and agency.
Project participation and systems support
- Meets weekly with the EHR workgroup
- Provides input and feedback to the EHR workgroup
- Assists in the design of the EHR
- Completes workgroup assignments
- Supports the project plan and charter
- Champions the EHR system
- Fields and resolves questions from the field
- Bring abnormal questions or issues to the workgroup for resolution
- May test the EHR system
Workflow Process:
- Identifies the impact of laws and regulations, policies, standards, directives, and operating procedures on correctional healthcare business principles and practices
- Develop workflow charts mapping the health records-keeping process
- Checks with the field to ensure that the proposed process makes sense
- Collects data from the field and compiles it for the workgroup
- Proposes clinical content and collaborates on designing and packaging tools for field use
Translational Research and Training:
- Analyzes the impact of contemporary health information technology trends and practices on the delivery of correctional health care
- Interprets health information management and technology-related evidence.
- Evaluate literature reviews for applicability to clinical documentation practice in corrections.
- Identifies leadership practices related to clinical documentation that promote accountability and integrity.
- Assists in developing training materials for the EHR.
- May provide training to the field or super users.
Health Information Management and the Application of Technology:
- Identifies critical and useful electronic data needed for effective decision support (clinical, financial, and administrative outcomes) to provide efficient and quality care
- Evaluates the essential elements of safety, security, and privacy in a health information management system
- Evaluate the implications of current and HealthCare Client information trends and technologies for correctional **** practice, education, and administration
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, or Competencies:
- Demonstrated knowledge of the clinical recordkeeping processes. Knowledge of regulatory guidelines (such as JCAHO, MQSA, HIPPA, and ACR). Excellent customer service skills
- Advanced computer skills (databases and/or Microsoft Office). Ability to communicate effectively with clinical and information technology personnel verbally and in writing.
Mandatory:
- Prefer knowledge of VADOC Health Care policy.
- Prefer skill in using/inputting data into electronic health record reporting tools.
Required Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred:
- Prefer licensing/credentials within a specific clinical specialty. Prefer working experience in a healthcare environment. Prefer a Bachelor's degree in the following fields: Nursing, Nursing Informatics, Information Technology, or Business Administration.
