Riverside Military Academy is a private, college preparatory, boarding and day school for boys in grades 6 through 12 in Gainesville, Georgia, United States.
This is professional nursing work providing general or specialized health services within the Riverside Military Academy 11 months a year excluding scheduled periods of cadet furlough.
Work hours: Weekends - Saturday and Sunday 6 AM 10 PM
This work involves performing examinations and treating cadets within Riverside Military Academy. Work is performed in accordance with standard professional nursing and health services practices and county, state and federal rules and regulations. Considerable judgment and initiative are required in working with subordinate staff, attending to cadets needs and administering prescribed medications and treatments. Work is reviewed by a professional superior through observation, conferences, and the analysis of cadets records.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Triage, access, and treat minor complaints; recommend and schedule for sick call as needed according to assessment findings. Interpret and carry out physicians orders, when indicated.
Assist with the intake of cadets medical requirements and records during cadet in processing.
Dispense daily medication to cadets at designated administration periods 4 times daily.
Charting: document all complaints, diagnosis, treatment, and medications (both prescribed and OTC), and follow-up care in cadets medical chart.
Communicate to parents the health needs of cadets, send cadets to appropriate health care professionals as needed.
Consult with Director of Health Services, school physician, and other health care providers when necessary.
Consults with other Riverside Military Academy personnel, when necessary, regarding well-being of cadets.
Maintain appropriate records and prepares periodic reports.
Clearly communicate all pending issues concerning cadet health and well-being from shift to shift.
File cadets charts in designated place.
Performs periodic drug testing on cadets under direction of the Commandants Office.
Performs all other duties regarding the efficient operation of RMA Infirmary.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to walk and stand for durations up to one (1) hour at a time. Must be able to bend and stoop. Must be able to use hands for pulling, pushing, and fine manipulation (dosing meds and charting). Must have at least 20/40 vision with or without vision aids. Must be able to lift and carry up to twenty (20) pounds. Must be able to reach above head. Must be able to verbally communicate in person, phone, and two-way radio.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITES:
All other duties as assigned by supervisor.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS REQUIRED:
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. Licensed as a registered or practical nurse with the State of Georgia. Minimum of five years nursing experience. Current certification for CPR
