Under the direction of the Ancillary Support Supervisor, the Radiology Support Clerk maintains departmental imaging records, provides copies of records to physicians, patients, and outside facilities. Receive, retrieve, and release/mail film and image request in accordance with department policy.

Record Processing
- Performs all duties related to image retrieval, CD burning, uploading images into the PACS system, preparing films for physicians to view, checking out hard copy films and CD's containing PACS images to patients or requesting physicians.
- Locate and prepare films for transport to various locations, prepare and mail back films from outside facilities, and maintains records for legal cases.
- Routes electronic images to requested locations, whether request is issued via phone, mail, or direct from the patient. Navigate within the PACS system and forward reports, CD's, and films, as necessary.
Chart Preparation and Tracking
- Monitors Reading Radiologist work list, unread mammography work list, breast biopsy schedule, and mammography status reports to ensure historical images are available and scanned in sequence based on type of examination; ensures prompt completion for radiologist's viewing.
- Updates PACS system regarding priority including status notes.
- Pulls, scans/digitizes hard copy films for comparative and archival purposes in PACS system; assures accuracy of information and images for each scanned study.
- Determines needed images and information; submits requests for images and information; retrieves and tracks those images and information.
- Monitors incoming and outgoing image requests for completeness and timeliness; maintains tracking system for timely imaging request resolution; oversees return of viewed films to their location.
- Validates requesting source; releases verbal information in accordance with current policy; receives incoming calls; delegates and/or tracks until completion.
Distribution and Mail
- Upon receipt of interoffice and external mail, routes to appropriate staff. Sends out patient correspondence and other mail including special delivery options: certified, FedEx, UPS.
- Prepare courier pouches for delivery to Radiology off sites.
Other Duties
- Routinely check fax drive for incoming faxes.
- Maintains equipment and supplies used as part of the department processes, troubleshooting problems with fax machines and copiers.
- Routinely check voice mail system.
- Cross-train and help as needed in other areas.
- Other duties as assigned based on department needs.

- High school diploma or GED
Years of Experience
- Prefer one year's experience in customer service setting, preferably in a medical office with basic knowledge of medical terminology.
- Able to type a minimum of 30 wpm.
