Position Description
Job Title: Clerical Receptionist
Department: Clerical
Reports To: Clerical Manager
SUMMARY
Greets all individuals coming into the LFM facility providing excellent customer service to all.
Speaks with incoming patient or patient’s representative; gathers and enters information required into computer.
Assists exiting patient or representative, views the medical record visit to determine needs and helps schedule all services for the patient.
Assists patients calling the office to schedule appointments.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Intake: Verifies, obtains and changes patient demographic information as appropriate. Collects co-payments and patient balances due and writes receipts as appropriate. Maintains updates to
Insurance and forms in patient records.
Exit: Finds and views patient information, diagnosis and follow up needed by viewing the electronic medical record. Creates and sends appropriate electronic messages to the
Outpatient Scheduling Department for any outpatient services or labs needed. Schedules in office follow up appointments if necessary.
Scheduling: Schedules appointments and procedures according to nature of illness or need for appointment with the appropriate provider utilizing the scheduling software. Answers the telephone, generates electronic messages and sends to appropriate caregiver.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); plus one to three months related experience and/or training. One to two years’ experience in customer service and computers/keyboarding. Must be relatively fast and accurate in computer data entry.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write legibly. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to patients, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute money and give accurate change.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form. Must be able to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
