Form of workClassic Design is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Mechanical Engineer (Sr. Designer) to join our team. As a Senior Designer, you will play a key role in the development and design of innovative automation solutions for various manufacturing fields, including BIW automotive. You will be responsible for handling the complete design process from concept to completion, collaborating effectively with colleagues, and ensuring designs meet functional, performance, and manufacturability requirements.
What Would a Typical Day Look Like?
• Play an active role as a team member in the Mechanical Design Engineering team, contributing expertise and collaborating effectively with colleagues.
• Capable of handling the complete design process, from initial concept development to detailed design and final review.
• Develop and design mechanical components and assemblies, ensuring they meet functional, performance, and manufacturability requirements.
• Create and maintain engineering drawings and documentation, adhering to industry standards and company guidelines.
• Stay up-to-date on the latest Mechanical Engineering technologies and trends, continuously expanding their knowledge and skills.
• Select and specify materials and components based on cost, performance, availability, and suitability for the intended application.
• Collaborate with other engineers, designers, and stakeholders to ensure project success, fostering effective communication and teamwork.
• Manage projects from start to finish, overseeing all aspects from inception to completion, meeting deadlines and quality standards.
• Provide technical support to manufacturing and assembly teams, addressing design-related issues and ensuring smooth production processes.
• Conduct feasibility studies to assess the viability of new designs and identify potential challenges or areas for improvement.
• Troubleshoot design and manufacturing issues, analyzing problems and implementing effective solutions.
• Streamline designs with offshore centers, engineering consultants, and design firms, ensuring clear communication and efficient collaboration.
• Utilize Microsoft Office product suites proficiently for document creation, communication, and project management.
• Demonstrate proficiency in CAD design software, such as AutoCAD, NX, or SolidWorks, creating accurate and detailed drawings.
• Exhibit excellent communication and teamwork skills, fostering positive relationships with colleagues, clients, and external stakeholders.
What Qualifies You for this Opportunity?
• Bachelor's degree in a Mechanical based Engineering discipline or 10+ in Industrial Automation system design.
• Experience in leading engineering project teams of 5+
• Excellent organizational and time management skills, able to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Has experience in automated material joining processes.
• Practical Design experience in the following cad design tools (UGNX, AutoCAD, FactoryCAD, Solid Works) and Microsoft Office
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, effectively communicating technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Demonstrated integrity and passion in leadership roles.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of identifying and resolving complex technical issues.
• Automotive Body In White experience preferred.
• Experience with Automotive OEM or Tier 1 preferred.

- While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to feel objects, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, talk and hear.
- Specific vision abilities required for the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
