Haskell’s Design & Consulting Team unites architecture, engineering, and consulting professionals from across industries and geographies. While some clients are looking for turnkey design-build or engineer-procure-construct projects, The Design & Consulting Team serves clients who need specialized, fee-for-service design or consulting projects. These types of projects allow our team to form a strong rapport with client teams, marshaling them as they grow and helping them address industry and market challenges. The Design & Consulting Team serves four primary markets: Government, primarily the Department of Defense, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Air and Army National Guard, and the U.S. Naval Facilities Command; Industrial, focusing on food and beverage, consumer products, and utilities; Civil Infrastructure; and Healthcare.
In this role, as an entry-level Civil/Water Resources Engineer you will be working with local cities and regional water/wastewater districts in the planning, design, and construction management of their water, stormwater, and wastewater projects.
Job Responsibilities:
Hydraulic and hydrologic modeling to both, understand existing systems, and size new collection and distribution systems.
Conducting GIS and data analysis
Sizing and detailed design of treatment system, pipelines, and pump stations; this includes calculations, equipment selection, and development of construction drawings and specifications. This may include coordinating with other engineers from other focus areas such as structural, electrical, and instrumentation
Performing fieldwork such as sampling, site investigations, and construction observation
Preparing written reports and technical memoranda to document analyses and recommendations
Participating in client and internal meetings to support and advance project work
Participating in professional workgroups and organizations to understand client needs and continue professional growth
Education/Experience:
Degree in Civil/ Environmental Engineering, Mechanical, or Chemical; M.S. degree preferred
EIT/FE Certification or ability to obtain within 6 months preferred
Experience and/or coursework in hydraulics, water/wastewater treatment, and conveyance required
Experience and/or coursework in GIS analysis preferred
Previous related internship experience is a plus but not necessary
Specific Knowledge, Skills, License, Certifications:
Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook) preferred
Valid driver’s license and good driving record may be required
Good written and verbal communication skills are essential
Environmental Factors and/or Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, this position is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, and arm, hand and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application/form information. The associate frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
