This is an exciting time to work for Amarillo College! We are seeking our next Part-TimeCIS (Computer Information Systems) Lab Technician who will be all-in on our mission and who will coordinate and maintain the CIS computer labs to ensure they are prepped and ready for students.

Requirements

EDUCATION

Required: Associate Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES:

Preferred: A+ Certification

EXPERIENCE

Preferred: Six (6) months working with hardware, software and networks.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Oversee computer labs.
• Manage computers that are used to teach students hardware disassembly/reassembly and software installation.
• Prepare virtual machines as needed for CIS faculty.
• Provide support to CIS students related to hardware and software issues in Networking and Programming courses.
• Assist with special projects in the Business and Computer Information Systems department.
• Create hard drive images for computer labs.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software and networking issues.

Salary: Amarillo College - Salary Schedules (actx.edu), Pay grade 5 (salary is determined by Human Resources based on education, work experience and internal comparisons).

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to travel between offices and buildings, and requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull and/or maneuver office supplies as needed.

Working Conditions: Must be willing to work a flexible schedule (days, nights, weekends, holidays, and varying events if necessary.)

Work Environment: This position operates in a professional office environment, routinely uses standard office equipment (i.e. computers, phones, copy and fax machines, filing cabinets) and is in a high traffic area with continual interruptions. Software commonly used includes Microsoft Office, Colleague, and various other educational applications. Work may also be performed outside of the office and with little to no supervision.
