What’s The Role?
The role of a Circulation Associate is to facilitate lifelong learning by assisting patrons in all aspects of Circulation and library resources including but not limited to registering new patrons for library cards, modifying patrons’ records and the reporting and replacement of lost cards; check out, discharge, and renew library materials, interlibrary loans and damaged materials; accept fines, fees, and payments for library materials; issue and send overdue notices. The Circulation Associate also assures accurate placement of library collection materials by reading shelves; empty, verify, sort, shelve, and re-shelve materials from the return desk, book drop, sorters, room use, and acquisitions into alpha/numeric order. Process, withdraw, repair or recondition library materials for and from delivery; assist with the acquisition and discarding of new books and materials. Perform other related duties as required. This is a part time position working approximately 20 hours per week. Evenings and/or weekends may be required.
Minimum Requirements
Here is what you need to be considered for the position of Circulation Associate:
- A Degree from an accredited college with major course work in Library Science or a related field;
- Supplemented by one (1) year of previous experience and/or training in office management, office administration, customer service, record management, and area of assignment; OR
- Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
- Requires a valid motor vehicle operator’s license.
