- Operates chipper.
- Monitors flow on conveyors.
- Keeps material moving up shaker conveyor.
- Clears metal detector when it shuts infeed conveyor off.
- Monitors waste entering chipper for jams.
- Keeps work area clean.
- Communicates regularly with other team members and participates in team effort in work area.
- Other duties as they apply.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Six months related sawmill / planer experience and/or training.
- Employee must be able to read and interpret documents such as instructions, memos, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
- While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and communicate
- The employee is occasionally required to sit
- Frequently the employee is required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required by this position include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
- The personal protective equipment requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. This position requires eye protection, hearing protection, leather or rubber gloves, safety shoes, hard hat, and fall protection as required
- While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles.
- The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually loud
This position requires the following equipment in the plant: eye protection, hearing protection, leather/rubber gloves, safety shoes, and hard hat.
