As a Child Welfare Specialist, you will be responsible for providing support and intervention services to children and families in need. Responsibilities:
- Conduct assessments and investigations to determine the safety of children
- Provide crisis intervention and support to families in need
- Develop and implement case plans to address the needs of children and families
- Collaborate with community resources to provide necessary services
- Monitor and evaluate progress of children and families involved in the Child Welfare system
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of all interactions and interventions
- Advocate for the best interests of children within the legal system
- Provide counseling and support services to children who have experienced trauma or abuse
- Collaborate with other professionals, such as therapists and educators, to ensure comprehensive care for children
Skills:
- Strong crisis management skills to effectively handle emergency situations
- Knowledge of social work principles and practices in Child Welfare
- Understanding of child development and the impact of trauma on children
- Experience in childcare or working with children in a professional setting
- Excellent conflict management skills to resolve disputes between family members
- Proficient in crisis intervention techniques to provide immediate support during difficult situations
- Knowledge of child protective services laws, regulations, and procedures
- Familiarity with behavioral health services for children with mental health needs
- Ability to conduct motivational interviewing techniques to engage families in the change process
- Experience working with diverse populations, including low-income families and individuals
