JOB SUMMARY:
Children and youth do best when they are with their own families whenever safely possible. When families are in different stages of crisis the Family Empowerment Team intervenes with genuine and authentic engagement. This engagement leads to connection to their own community for services, utilization of natural and professional supports, and the empowerment of families to create safety and protective abilities within their own family system.
Outcomes for the Family Empowerment Team include, but not limited to
1) Reduction of child abuse and neglect referrals and assessments over time
2) Strengthened family functioning to prevent further system penetration
3) Increased community engagement in family safety and well being
4) Reducing Out of Home Placement for children and youth, including the reduction of the use of Congregate Care and reducing post adoption disruption
5) Reduce recidivism of families served through intensive in home case management
Essential Duties
DUTIES:

Provide case management services as needed in accordance with agency, state, and federal guidelines and laws. Complete family, safety and risk assessment, facilitate the process of gathering assessment information and jointly developing treatment plans with families and service providers.
Ensure shared decision-making, family involvement and movement toward self-sufficiency within the family.
Collaborate with families, service providers, and the community in non-court involved cases to mitigate risks and maintain safety of children with the family.
Identify and address barriers to progress through intensive in-home engagement
Increase in family functioning and capacity.
Increase in community awareness and collaboration.
Build community and social support connections.
Provide short term early intervention to voluntary families to prevent a family's future penetration into the Child Welfare system.
Reduce recidivism of families served through intensive in home case management.
Oral and written communication must be clear and effective.
Other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
EDUCATION:
  • A bachelor's degree from a higher education institution with coursework related to the job responsibilities of Child Welfare Social Caseworker. Course work examples can include and are not limited to, the development of human behavior, child development, family intervention techniques, diagnostic measures, or therapeutic techniques; and
  • Professional, internship, or volunteer work experience in a human services related agency.

Additional Information:
Offer of employment contingent on criminal history, MVR check and education verification. Must have valid driver's license, if you are from out of state, you must obtain a valid Colorado driver's license within 30 days of hire date, and you must not have any major violations, including DUI, DWI, and/or DWAI conviction(s) in the past three years.

Supplemental Information
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
This position requires standing, stooping, sitting, bending, twisting, and lifting up to 10 pounds.
Work is generally confined to a standard office environment.
Occasional exposure of work time to hazardous situations which involve physically violent persons, interviewing mentally or emotionally disturbed persons or bodily injury from biohazards, infections, or blood-borne pathogens.
Work involves a considerable period of time (20-40%) away from a standard office environment, much of which consists of driving to, and from home visits and collateral contacts and in transporting children and clients. At times more than normal physical exertion is required in transporting children. Work may occur in situations in which the incumbent is threatened with physical harm by hostile, angry clients.
