JOB SUMMARY:
The Mesa County Family Time Program is a County designed Core Service Program. Core Services programs deliver services to families involved in Child Welfare with a goal of strengthening families and protecting children.
When the Court orders Family Time between parents and children, the Family Time Coordinator will assess each parent and child relationship and create a Family Time plan for ongoing contactESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Within the first 30 days of the child being placed in the care of MCDHS, the Family Time Coordinator will complete the following:
- Initiate the first contact between the child and parents within 72 hours of the child's removal.
- Conduct a Family Time assessment using the Keys to Interactive Parenting (KIPS) assessment (training and certification will be given once hired).
- Coordinate with the Family Search and Engagement worker to ascertain if there are any appropriate family members who can assist with the supervision of Family Time.
- Coordinate with the Facilitation team to schedule a family engagement meeting to discuss the Family Time structure.
- Submit a written report to the Court outlining the Family Time Plan which will include:
- the frequency, location and duration type of contact by the parents;
- The persons that may be present during Family Time;
- Method of Family Time which shall include if Family Time should be supervised or unsupervised and the level of supervision and by whom;
- Determine if supervision can be by informal supports, when available, and occur in the community, a homelike environment, or other agreed upon location unless the youth's safety, or mental, emotional, or physical health requires professional supervision; and
- The child or youth's opportunity to communicate with the parents, siblings or other relatives outside of Family Time.
- Provide training to relatives or family supports who have been selected to supervise Family Time.
- Performs other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Minimum age of 21 years old
Hold a valid driver's license
Undergo a background check
EDUCATION:
Bachelor degree in the human services or related field with at least 1 year of experience working in a field of child development with an emphasis on understanding parent/child relationships
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
- This position requires standing, stooping, sitting, bending, twisting, and lifting up to 50 pounds or less.
- Occasional exposure of work time to hazardous situations which involve physically violent persons, interviewing mentally or emotionally disturbed persons or bodily injury from biohazards, infections, or blood-borne pathogens.
- Work involves a considerable period of time (20-40%) away from a standard office environment, much of which consists of driving to, and from appointment locations. At times more than normal physical exertion is required in transporting children, youth and adults.
- Work may occur in situations in which the incumbent is threatened with physical harm by hostile, angry clients.
