Job Summary:
The Associate Director is responsible for assisting the Child Care Director in maintaining the daily operations of the Child Care center while adhering to Lindenwood's mission and providing a safe, loving, and nurturing environment. The Associate Director will take charge of the center in the absence of the Child Care Director and should be knowledgeable in all aspects of managing a Child Care center.

The Associate Director will take charge of the center in the absence of the Child Care Director and should be knowledgeable in all aspects of managing a Child Care center.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Assist with training current and new staff.
- Assisting Child Care Director with the supervision of all Child Care staff.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Under the leadership of the Child Care Director, have an understanding of and the ability to communicate and abide by all TN DHS, Health Department, and Fire Department regulations and standards.
- Responsible for required record keeping, ensuring all documentation is completed on time and maintained in an organized and up-to-date manner.
- Manage the center’s office space, including telephone communication, door access, and filing.
- Provide support for accounting, payroll, and human resources needs of the center; assist with biweekly payroll processes, required employment documents, and benefits.
- Responsible for assisting in monetary transitions with customers, vendors, and fundraisers to ensure funds are appropriately and timely posted with all necessary documentation and prepared to be submitted to the business office for payment.
- Inventory consumables and maintain supplies.
- Assist in providing orientation with new staff.
- Follow through to ensure the curriculum's implementation reflects new standards.
- Review all lead teachers' weekly lesson plans and monthly newsletters.
- Develop and actively maintain good communication with parents. Ensure that employees are aware of specific parent concerns so that problems are resolved.
- Meet with the Child Care Director daily to exchange news, events, problems, concerns, and planning.
- Handle medical emergencies in a responsible and timely manner.
- Meet children’s physical and emotional needs and set a good example for children and staff.
- Classroom observation of staff as needed.
- Other duties as instructed by the Child Care Director or the Executive Minister.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Have a working knowledge of Word, Excel, Publisher, and the Internet.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive professional relationships with staff, parents, and vendors.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate them when appropriate.
- Ability to function well in a high-paced and, at times, stressful environment.
- Preferred knowledge of national accreditation processes.
Education and Experience:
- Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development, Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- At least two years of related experience is required with a bachelor's degree, or five years of experience is required with an associate degree and CDA Certification.
- Three years of supervisory experience are required.
- First Aid/CPR certification is required.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
