The firm consistently ranks in the Top 10 for Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac multifamily loan originations and is the #1 Overall HUD Multifamily and Healthcare Lender in the country. We are seeking a Chief Risk Officer (CRO) to join Greystone. The newly created role will create a best-in-class risk management function overseeing Greystone’s principal lines of business. The CRO will partner with our Chief Compliance Officer (CCO), Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), and our operating Business Leaders to provide consultation and oversight to manage and anticipate enterprise-level and business segment risk.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Partner with the CCO, CISO, and Business Leaders to create a corporate-wide framework to ensure appropriate monitoring, measuring, and mitigation of various risk parameters, including credit, operational, interest rate, counterparty, market, and key person.
  • Evaluate risk management policies, risk appetite, and risk limits within each business, with an eye toward standardizing practices and Key Performance Indicators.
  • Utilize macroeconomic shocks to evaluate the potential impact on the firm.
  • Advise and consult with leadership on new business opportunities and long-term risk strategies.
  • Seek technology and innovation to align systems with a strategy to provide effective reporting tools.
  • Work with Business Leaders to provide risk reporting and trend analysis on a Quarterly/Semi-Annual basis in a standardized “Dashboard” format.
  • Participate in leadership meetings to provide a corporate-wide risk perspective.
  • Maintain a current knowledge of developing trends and best practices in the enterprise risk management space.
  • Work with the individual business unit risk management team to create innovative ways to reduce Greystone’s risk exposure.

Experience, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • Minimum 4-year college degree with a focus on Finance, Business Administration, or Accounting.
  • MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
  • 5+ years at a senior level running or supporting a risk function in a commercial real estate organization.
  • Demonstrated success in designing and implementing corporate-wide risk management systems and reporting for complex, multi-faceted organizations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to interact effectively with all levels of management.

At Greystone, we believe that finding creative solutions for our clients comes from the collaboration of people with diverse backgrounds and perspectives. We strive to build an inclusive work environment that celebrates differences and empowers all individuals with opportunities to channel their entrepreneurial spirit. Greystone is an EEO Employer.

Greystone offers a competitive base salary and bonus. The base salary range for this position is $225,000 to $300,000/year. The specific compensation that will be offered is based on an understanding of the hired candidates' qualifications at the time of hire. Employees are eligible for a discretionary bonus based on employee work performance reviewed during the annual review process.
