As a member of the Senior Leadership team will participate in the development of operational programs, strategic plans, policies, and procedures reporting directly to the President/CEO. The COO will provide management oversight for the development of high quality, cost effective and integrated clinical programs within Franciscan Healthcare, consistent with the Mission, Vision, and Values.
The COO is expected to work collaboratively with the CFO in the CEOs absence. The COO will exercise management responsibility over Franciscan Healthcare ensuring efficient services that are designed to meet the needs of patients, physicians, the public and staff. This will either be done directly, or through delegation of responsibility to the management staff.

Develop and foster effective collaboration between clinical departments, nursing, and medical staff leadership, to ensure an integrated approach to providing services, and fulfilling Franciscan Healthcare’s goals and objectives.
- Appropriately represents Franciscan Healthcare at the Board of Directors level.
- Facilitates a team approach in the development of services and displays an ability to work effectively within Franciscan Healthcare’s structure.
- Provides oversight and management of all directly supervised departments by providing leadership growth, accountability, communication, and follow-through for operations.
- Identifies and articulates the vision and strategic direction for the discipline of Ancillary Services and collaborates on the implementation of operational strategies/initiatives to achieve them.
- Participates in major workforce and resource decisions.
- Where appropriate, represents Franciscan Healthcare to the external market, as well as internally through the application of community relations and marketing activities.
- Assists in developing new business strategies to enhance market share and improve overall performance.
- Working collaborative, with the senior management team and medical leadership of Franciscan Healthcare, as a resource to help reduce costs, enhance revenues, achieve effective utilization and quality goals and objectives. Analyze, and utilize information to develop and support management decisions.
- Communicate key information to the stakeholders of service areas with respect to managed care, marketplace needs, the competitive environment, cost management, and customer-focused services.
- Develops annual departmental and capital budgets, monitors, and analyzes ongoing performance and productivity and implements necessary corrective plans.
Education: Requires a master’s degree in a health-related field.
Experience: Requires a minimum of 5 years’ experience being responsible for hospital operation at the administrative leadership level.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Demonstrated leadership and complex organization management skills.
- An understanding of how to achieve results in a healthcare environment.
- Well-developed planning, marketing, organizational development, and business skills.
- Experience in hospital administration in a Critical Access Hospital setting.
- Sensitivity for and understanding of multiple healthcare disciplines and issues.
- The ability to work with physicians, staff and professionals in multiple settings and locations and able to promote diversity in the workplace.
- Information systems capabilities and an appreciation for the data which will be required to make meaningful management decisions.
- Negotiation and financial analysis skills.

Pay: $150,000.00 - $200,000.00 per year
