Fahrenheit Advisors is assisting our client in the mining and construction materials industry in their search for a strategic CFO. This position will need to be on-site in Raleigh, NC. The client is a well-establish, large family-owned business of more than 75-years of growth and prosperity, operating in the US and Canadian markets. They have a strong commitment to innovation, sustainability, and continuous improvement with over 600 employees. The Highly skilled CFO will play a pivotal role in driving the future financial success.

Position Overview:

As a key member of the Executive Management team, the Chief Financial Officer will report to the President and assume a strategic role in the overall management of the company. The CFO will have primary day-to-day responsibility for planning, implementing, managing, and controlling all financial-related activities and information technology to enhance the company’s efficiency and profitability. The CFO will have a strong focus on process improvement initiatives while providing strategic financial leadership and guidance to support the achievement of long-term business goals. The ideal candidate will have the ability to communicate and manage well at all levels of the organization, have strong problem solving and creative skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Strategy and Planning:
    • Collaborate with the CEO and other senior leaders to develop and execute the company's financial strategy.
    • Create and maintain financial models, forecasts, and budgets to drive informed decision-making.
    • Identify opportunities for cost reduction, revenue enhancement, and profitability improvement.
  2. Process Improvement:
    • Lead efforts to streamline financial processes and systems to increase efficiency and accuracy.
    • Identify bottlenecks and implement best practices to optimize financial operations.
    • Implement technology solutions to automate routine financial tasks and reporting.
  3. Financial Analysis and Reporting:
    • Provide timely and accurate financial reports, analysis, and insights to inform strategic decisions.
    • Monitor financial performance, key performance indicators (KPIs), and industry trends.
    • Prepare presentations for the board of directors and executive team.
  4. Risk Management and Compliance:
    • Oversee risk assessment and management, including insurance, credit, and investment strategies.
    • Ensure compliance with all financial regulations, tax laws, and reporting requirements.
  5. Capital Management:
    • Manage the company's capital structure and allocation, including debt financing and equity investments.
    • Evaluate and execute strategic mergers and acquisitions (M&A) opportunities.
  6. Team Leadership:
    • Build and lead a high-performing finance team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and professional growth.
    • Mentor and develop finance staff, promoting skill development and succession planning.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field; MBA or CPA preferred.
  • Proven experience as a CFO or in a senior finance leadership role within a high growth or large organization.
  • Strong background in process improvement and optimizing financial operations.
  • Exceptional financial modeling, forecasting, and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute financial strategies aligned with business objectives.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of relevant financial regulations and compliance standards.
  • Experience in family-owned businesses or closely-held corporations is a plus.
