Chief Financial Officer (Hybrid or Remote)
Job Description:
Full-time Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for a growing and complex family firm, based in several states, including law, real estate, and other ventures. The work is challenging, rewarding, and manages real estate assets in a middle-market portfolio. Many of the team’s professionals have been working together for a decade or longer and take care of each other, while doing careful and good work.
Compensation and Benefits:
We offer a competitive salary depending on qualifications, including contribution to health insurance, and paid vacation, and sharing in outcomes through incentives and bonuses. Salary and benefits depend upon multiple factors with an expected annual salary range of $100,000 to $175,000, with bonus potential of up to 67%.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee all aspects of the accounting, internal reporting, and insurance/HR administration within the organization.
- Oversee and handle the financial processes within the organization, including, but not limited to: invoicing/accounts receivable; accounts payable; inter-company charges; and account reconciliations.
- Prepare and process monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close cycles/reporting; cash-flow reporting; KPI analysis; budgeting and forecasting; tax compliance and year-end schedules; as well as various ad hoc financial projects, including modeling real estate projects and cash planning.
- Prepare timely and accurate monthly financial statements, including journal and QuickBooks entries and supporting Excel schedules.
- Prepare account reconciliations including IOLTA accounts.
- Provide financial data and insight for use in making operational and strategic decisions, and recommend adaptations regarding financial policies, practices, and procedures.
- Initiate adaptations regarding financial policies, practices, and procedures, and for establishing and maintaining internal controls.
- Prepare all tax records to be provided to outside accountants, including coordinating the provision of information to external accountants, and be responsible for establishing and maintaining internal controls.
- Maintain effective communication and coordination with other team members.
Desired Skills & Experience:
- A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or equivalent, or related field.
- 5-10 years of related experience in accounting and finance roles. Experience in the legal or real estate development industry is preferred.
- MBA or CPA designation is a plus.
- A demonstrated mastery of accounting principles, internal controls, and financial analysis.
- High level of organization with the ability to follow instructions precisely. An ability to work discreetly and dependably with limited supervision.
- Strong analytical/quantitative and communication skills.
- A high level of familiarity and experience using a legal billing system, preferably Clio, and mastery of QuickBooks and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, and Excel).
