Job description

The CFO manages and coordinates the fiscal affairs of the hospital reporting to EVP of Business Strategy & Finance. Designs and implements systems to identify and control the income and expenditures within the facility as well as providing analysis of additional sources of revenue. The CFO is also responsible for financial reporting to outside entities such as the Bond Commission, lending institutions and various governmental agencies. In addition, the CFO works closely with the Board of Directors to provide any insight or data as requested by the members.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

The CFO is a member of Administrative Leadership Team and coordinates and implements special projects as directed by the EVP of Business Strategy & Finance.

Plans, develops, organizes, implements, directs and evaluates the organization's financial function and performance.

Participates in the development of OGHS's plans and programs as a strategic partner in evaluating and advising on the impact of long-range planning and regulatory action on the areas of responsibility.

Plans, coordinates, and administers policies, procedures, and programs that relate to all phases of finance and accounting.

Ensures that compliance with OGHS's financial, (GAAP, GAAS, FASB, etc), policies and procedures is consistent throughout the facility.

Negotiates contracts with all third party reimbursement entities.

Serves as an advisor to the CEO, EVP of Business Strategy & Finance, Administrative Leadership Team and Leadership Team with regard to the financial administration issues and the effective and efficient utilization of human resources.

Acts as an administrative resource to help resolve problems with Leadership team concerning staff.

Monitors and evaluates performance of Leadership Team direct reports to ensure their professional development and maximize their contribution towards established organizational goals.

Establishes and fosters positive physician relations to achieve OGHS's goals.

Attends all Governing Board meetings as designated.

Reviews, interprets, analyzes, and communicates financial reports and data to administration and the Board of Trustees.

Develops and leads administrative discussion with Finance Committee and Capital Committee.

Develops and maintains effective working relationships with community groups and representatives to promote corporate identity and support.

Attends meetings of professional, civic, and service organizations as a representative of the hospital.

Represents the hospital at outside conferences, labor hearings, and seminars related to areas of responsibility.

Coordinates on behalf of Administrative Leadership Team, the preparation of and assists in the development of the operational and capital budget.

Administers the hospital's compliance with various governmental regulations affecting finances, i.e., and other significant articles of legislation.

Reviews and advises CEO & EVP of Business Strategy & Finance on vendors.

Ensures appropriateness of financial relationships between Physicians and Hospital

Plans and implements strategies and processes to maximize efficiency and meet objectives.

Sets annual goals for the department and monitors progress of goal achievement through the LEM.

Organizes the functions of the department and allocates use of available resources.

Staff's department appropriately according to productivity standards

Recruits, hires, trains and develops staff.

Monitors staff performance including goal setting and performance reviews.

Establishes and maintain departmental controls.

Formulates and enforces department policies and practices.

Coordinates financial and budget activities for maximum operational efficiency.

Facilitates the preparation and analysis of reports.

Reviews various performance metrics (i.e., financial, HCAHPS, employee engagement survey) to monitor and measure results, productivity & goal progress.

Responsible for the achievement of department productivity and quality goals

Engages in and implements the Journey to Excellence tactics for the department.

Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance required.

Certification/License: Certified Public Accountant preferred.

Experience: 10 plus years experience as CFO in a 150-250 bed facility required, Not for Profit Hospital experience preferred.
