Position Overview

This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious, highly organized, resourceful individual interested in systems change to join a high functioning team that works with a diverse group of community partners.

The position is responsible for leading Illinois statewide Coalition Against Domestic Violence (ICADV) in strengthening the capacity and quality of services provided to survivors across the state, advocating for policy changes that support survivors’ wellbeing, representing the interest of our membership and coordinating a comprehensive safety net across the state to support and serve domestic violence survivors.

This is a Full -time, exempt, position with a competitive total compensation package. Salary is determined based on level of education, experience, knowledge, skills, and professional attributes. This position will be based out of ICADV’s Springfield office and expected to travel throughout Illinois from week to week. Depending on the time of year, up to 25% travel is required, including overnights and weekends. Organization Overview

ICADV is a collaborative effort of agencies and individuals building on a community movement to prevent and respond to domestic violence through advocacy, public policy, education, and direct outreach strategies.

Collectively, these core activities work towards our vision to ensure evidence-based service delivery to survivors and standardized education and awareness to the Illinois region. The ICADV coalition believes in a community that is educated, aware, and supportive of victims of domestic violence.

 

The Work

Coalition Leadership & Policy Advocacy

  • Represent ICADV and collaborate locally, statewide, and nationally by participating in coalitions, task forces, work groups, and other efforts that offer the opportunity to further ICADV’s mission, goals, and legislative priorities.
  • Lead and drive implementation of a multiyear strategic roadmap that includes multiple and differing regional and statewide priorities that includes ICADV’s Collaborative Partners, coalition membership, researchers, and other stakeholders.
  • Lead the development and implementation of data collection methods, tools, and evaluation measures for ICADV activities and associated projects with support from the ICADV team.
  • Work to identify, write, and report on grants and funding sources that further the coalition mission and fundraising objectives.
  • Supervise, mentor, and direct the ICADV’s growing number of staff positions.
  • Work with staff to collect, analyze, and inform membership on broad research, current best practices, governmental rules and regulations, status of legislation, model legislation, and success stories related to domestic violence, anti-human trafficking, and exploitation.
  • Work with the Collaborative Partners and the ICADV Policy Workgroup to refine and implement ICADV’s state-based advocacy model, developing position statements, reviewing, and recommending endorsements of policies, providing technical assistance or public advice to legislative body, and advocating for policies and legislation at the state level that is in line with ICADV’s mission, values, and the consensus of the coalition membership.

Training & Events

  • Plan, coordinate, and conduct conferences, training and technical assistance workshops, webinars, and listening session for ICADV members, including four annual program council meetings per year.
  • Produce high quality programming related to domestic violence and ICADV’s Services Guidelines Manual.

Communications & Marketing

  • Continually monitor, maintain, and develop content for the coalition website.
  • Produce high quality digital and promotional materials related to domestic violence, member updates, ICADV’s Service guidelines, Impact Reports, etc.
  • Keep current with industry, government, and partner communications, including summarizing and reporting on e-newsletters, webinars, legislative text, regulations, and literature. As well as reviewing and updating information across media platforms, fact checking, and providing credible sources as appropriate.

 

What Makes a Good Match

  • You have demonstratable experience of at least 3 years of managing and successfully implementing multiple projects, staying on track, and keeping tasks from slipping through the cracks.
  • Have a degree in Social Work, Public Health, related degree, or professional experience that supports coalition building, policy advocacy, and/or macro practice related to human trafficking and/or violence against women.
  • You prioritize building a diverse community of people, such as people of color, differing gender identity and expression, religious backgrounds, immigration status, and abilities. You lead with a mindset of “power with” rather than “power over” and regularly include others in decision-making.
  • You enjoy public speaking, training, collaboration, and working with others to move a goal forward.
  • Have a valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, and reliable transportation, along with the ability to and desire to travel that includes overnight stays, weekend travel, and long drives across the state.
  • Can pass a background, driving record, and DCFS background check.
