Job description

Under general direction of the Deputy Director of Laboratory Services, the Research Scientist (RS) III (Biostatistics) performs scientific research studies of a highly developed scientific scope and complexity. The incumbent is responsible for designing, planning, and conducting specialized research projects, data collection, and statistical analyses using advanced analytical tools for the Department of Cannabis Control's (Department) Laboratory Services Division (Division).
This is a Limited-Term position. This position may be up to 24 months or may become permanent.

Department Information The Department of Cannabis Control (Department) is looking for a dynamic, highly motivated individual that wants to work in a multi-tasking environment. The Department's mission is to develop and implement progressive cannabis policies and license and regulate commercial cannabis activity in a way that best protects public health, safety, the environment, and local communities throughout the State of California.

Special Requirements
  • The position(s) require(s) a valid California Drivers License (CDL). You must answer the questions addressing your CDL on your application. Ensure you provide your CDL number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions.
Conflict of Interest (COI) - This position is subject to Conflict of Interest Regulations. The incumbent is required to submit a Statement of Economic Interests (Form 700) within 30 days of assuming office, annually by April 1st, and within 30 days of leaving office.
DMV Employer Pull Notice Program (EPN) - The incumbent shall participate in DMV's Employer Pull Notice Program (EPN), which is a process for providing the Department with a report showing the driver's current public record as recorded by the DMV, and any subsequent convictions, failures to appear, accidents, driver's license suspensions, driver's license revocations, or any other actions taken against the driving privilege or license, added to the driver's DMV record.
Travel - The incumbent is required to travel throughout an assigned geographical area by various methods of transportation.
