Description
Grays Harbor College is seeking a qualified full-time, tenure-track instructor of chemistry. Additional responsibilities will include academic student advising, outcomes assessment, holding office hours, committee work, and other duties as assigned. The selected candidate will join a science division with a rich spectrum of specialties and interests, operating in a collaborative and cooperative environment.
The placement on the salary schedule for 174-day contract will be determined by education and experience at the time of hire. Initial placement of faculty shall be no higher than 5 years of service. The 174-day salary schedule can be viewed at . Full-time faculty will also receive 1 day of sick leave per month and 5 days of personal leave days per year.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Teach chemistry and related courses maintaining a course load of 44-46 load hours per year; approximately 15 credit hours per quarter.
- Maintain regularly scheduled office hours that allow students to meet and engage with faculty.
- Maintain a classroom environment that affirms a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and demonstrates an understanding of historically disadvantaged populations and awareness of cultural relevance.
- Develop, assign, and assess learning activities appropriate to the course and program learning outcomes. Provide students with course syllabi at the beginning of the quarter and distribute or post appropriate learning resources. Provide instructional feedback and assign grades in a timely manner.
- Maintain and submit accurate academic records, including verification of class rosters, no-show reports, student grades, and student course evaluations by dates requested by the College; maintain course Canvas page using Universal Design strategies.
- Assess course outcomes to improve success in teaching and learning. The assessed course outcomes are then tied to the appropriate program and institutional outcomes.
- Collaborate with other faculty in selecting learning resources and technologies to support the curriculum.
- When appropriate, coordinate with science division faculty and the office of instruction to define or update program outcomes.
- Engage in shared governance by serving on college committees and participating in department, division, and college meetings.
- Participate in student education and career development through advising, guided pathways activities, and high-impact practices like collaborative projects, global learning, and community engagement.
- Engage in professional development activities to improve teaching and learning and remain current in the discipline.

Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in chemistry or related field from an accredited college or university
- Demonstrated success in teaching introductory general, organic + biochemistry, and/or organic chemistry in a college environment
- Experience in curriculum development, instruction, and evaluation
- Demonstrated success in teaching chemistry in a community college
- Successful experience incorporating technologies into instruction, including online instruction
- Experience in outcomes assessment
- Experience working with diverse communities and supporting the success of students and staff from racial, ethnic, and gender backgrounds that are underrepresented
- Experience using culturally responsive teaching
- Experience in one or more of the following: biochemistry, bioinformatics, forensics
- Experience working with guided pathways
