GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy is a world-leading provider of advanced reactor technology, fuel and nuclear services. With design expertise and proven experience, GEH focuses on delivering reactors, fuels, and services globally. GEH has been selected to deploy a BWRX-300 reactor design for the Ontario Power Generation, Darlington site. Construction of North America’s first Small Modular Reactor (SMR) could be completed by 2028.The engineer will be responsible for spearheading the mechanical design, development, and implementation of GEH chemical addition systems. This will include design work for our new SMR design as well as troubleshooting and upgrades for existing systems. This role will include collaboration with a variety of cross functional experts and interfacing systems to ensure a seamless incorporation of chemistry systems into the overall plant design. There will also be opportunities for hands on configuration and operation of GEH test loops and analytical equipment used for next gen design research.
Must be willing to relocate to the San Jose, CA area and able to work onsite 4-5 days a week.
Job Description
Essential Responsibilities:
- Design of chemical injection systems, working with engineering design documents and drawings.
- Contribute to new plant design activities for chemistry systems and chemistry related issues.
- Provide technical support with a team of Engineers and Chemists in support of development, delivery, and troubleshooting products related to BWR Chemistry.
- Interface with internal and external customers on the resolution of technical issues related to the team’s product line.
- Support the development and execution of scopes for new projects, which may include laboratory testing, in-plant demonstration, and in-plant delivery / implementation.
- Interface with technical members and vendors of industry groups as needed to collaborate on areas of BWR chemistry.
- Operation and oversight of high temperature high pressure laboratory testing loops and other mechanical test systems
- Ability to interface effectively with all levels of the organization as well as internal and external customers.
- Critical thinking: problem solving and the ability to effectively troubleshoot mechanical systems.
- Documentation of test plans, evaluation results, and mechanical design requirements.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering, preferably Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Must be willing to relocate to the San Jose, CA area and able to work onsite 4-5 days a week.
Desired Qualifications:
- Knowledge of control systems (PLC, LabVIEW, general computer logic/communication).
- Understanding of engineering design documents and drawings.
- Hands on experience (design, constructions, and/or mechanical maintenance) working with custom mechanical systems.
- Familiarity with BWR plant systems and/or chemistry issues.
- Demonstrated high energy and the ability to energize others.
- Demonstrated legacy of high integrity and positive representation.
- Legacy of delivering on commitments; tenacious, with a proven track record of overcoming obstacles; ability to achieve stretch targets.
- Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills.
The salary range for this position is $88-110k. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. In addition, this position is eligible for a performance bonus.
